Caption It: A Superstar Returns

by in Community, August 2, 2013

Guy FieriCome Sunday night, the final four competitors will face their last and most critical challenge of the competition: Convince Bob and Susie that their pilots should be green-lighted. In all-or-nothing pitches, Damaris, Rodney, Russell and Stacey will convey their show concepts to the network, but ultimately only three will be given the go-ahead. For the fallen rival, it will be the end of a 10-week journey, but for the hopefuls advancing, the most exciting experience will be yet to come. They'll film exclusive, never-before-seen tapes illustrating their would-be series on Food Network, and it's these pilots that you, fans, will watch when deciding who to vote for on Sunday night.

Check out the sneak-peek photo above from Sunday's episode: Guy Fieri is making a guest appearance, coaching the rivals through the filming process. Perhaps the ultimate pilot mentor, Guy won Star Season 2, so he's well-aware of the anxiety, stresses and obstacles that surely accompany this stage of the competition. Do you think he'll share sage wisdom with the contestants or stories from his own days filming a pilot?

Before you tune in this Sunday at 9pm/8c to find out who makes the top three, we’re challenging you, Star fans, to write your best captions (tastefully appropriate, please) for this moment in the comments below. After the episode, check back to FoodNetwork.com/Star to vote for who you want to become the next Food Network Star.

Click the play button on the video below to get an insider's look at what's to come on Sunday.

Guy: You need to do better than that or they might let Danushka win.

  2. Heather says:

Shut the front door. That was bananas! That's all she wrote. We're rolling out...

  3. Want Healthy says:

Seriously, I will not watch a person who wants to make everything a pie, one who wants to include his, "culinary sins", or one who just seems to be the same old, same old. I want healthy, less meat...someone who is innovative. There is no one left who I have any interest in seeing...sometimes I think the judges are threaten by the people trying out and that is why they eliminated them. Oh well, guess I am watching less on the Food Network.

    • ImaUzer says:

Less meat = smaller portion of meat! Just cut the darn thing into smaller pieces and eat that! There are already great recipes on FN.com for "side" dishes that include vegetables and rice (a risotto, for one).

So instead of a 10 ounce steak, just cook it, cut the darned thing into thirds (or quarters, if you like), make a nice couple of vegetable sides (maybe a risotto and some sauteed broccoli), and there ya go.

None of these finalist are worth anything. Let's face it no next food network star has been a star except Guy. The concept is flawed. You cannot find a star like this.

  5. Ann says:

This show has gone from silly to ridiculous. I would not watch either of these guys.

  6. Jill says:

Pie style????How about crap style and who wants to make a pie out everything they eat. Maybe someone who can not cook but thinks they know how to make pie crust--and through out most of this season he can not even do that one. Just because he is loud and acts like an clown does that mean he can cook. AND FN he is not GUY stop looking for another one. He should have been out 3 weeks ago. And who is actually voting for him; if you want comedy go to a different network. Foodnetwork was suppose to be about teaching people how to cook or improve their cooking. Of the three left I may watch Damaris but all the other people who actually had something interesting to watch are out. Didn't they pick a rebel last year and where is his show? And again, really making pie every week what a snooze. Not to mention he could not even name the ingredients in the grill cheese sandwich. If he thinks he can fill air time with music (or what he thinks is music) YUK!!

    • Debbie says:

      agree!

      • natalie h cross says:

and also, about the music thing, he is a rock star, you have never seen him play and sing so you are noone to comment. i know him from way back, he was always touring and opened for big bands, 40,000 strong,,,,have you done as much?

    • natalie h cross says:

his pie is the best pie i have ever eaten, first of all. chocolate=pecan and you would eat the entire thing. i know him from way back, and you have no idea of his skills.

      • natalie h cross says:

he makes a kick-ass pie crust, i know....because i have eaten them and custom designed the pie boxes....so, shut it

    • natalie h cross says:

first of all, why are you so angry?

    • natalie h cross says:

i can tell you are a jaded, spiteful, academic hoo haa
      good luck with that.

  7. LIndy says:

Would seem that a Food Network might focus on chefs or cuisines...not character actors or star wannabes. Have no desire to watch any of the finalists. As for whatever " pah style brother!" might be...yeccchh!,,,

    • natalie h cross says:

well, guy fierai was the winner from season two and he is a personality, with his own restaurant, do you think he's lame? he has a charisma that equals STAR so, if you watch that show, TRIPLE D, you are a hypocrite

  8. Betty says:

Come on people!! why are you so serious and mean? The Food Network FAMILY, are fun people. Otherwise we would not watch. Be honest...it's not all about the "learning" when we watch, they all entertain us. Their personalities drew us in before their cooking. For the first time in YEARS, I truly enjoyed watching the Next Network Star. All of them were likeable except Danushka and Stacey. I laughed till crying to FINALLY see Stacey leave. Thanks Food Network for giving us something truly worth watching. My family laughs at how much I enjoy watching your shows. Lighten up people.

  9. suzy says:

I agree that none of these finalists have any show I would watch, especially Pieman. And just remember - who ever wins go into oblivion anyway. Has anybody EVER seen the so called rebel's show, who won last year?
Remember Ippy, the Hawiian chef who was fabulous, but susy and bob didn't like him? That would have been a show.

  10. Suzy says:

FoodNetwork Star has seriously jumped the shark...How ridiculous is it, that when the finally let the audience pick the winner, EVERY finalist is not up to par, in anyway. Thanks Susy and Bob.
