Caption It: Here’s Looking at You

by in Community, July 12, 2013

Alton Brown, Giada De Laurentiis and Bobby FlayCome evaluation, the Food Star Kitchen turns into a scary place week after week. As finalists stand wide-eyed awaiting judgment, three successful chefs and stars stare back them, ready to dole out several notebooks' worth of critiques about their food and performances. Sometimes the scene ends with tears and an emotional goodbye, but other times the atmosphere is far less tense — perhaps even happy — be it on account of one contestant's superstar presentation or particularly camera-worthy meal.

Check out the sneak-peek photo above from Sunday's all-new episode: Giada and Alton look out to the remaining finalists during evaluation and smile, while Giada points two fingers at them, doing so in a seemingly positive way. Do you think the mentors look particularly pleased because the group as a whole was successful this week, or did one competitor deliver an especially knockout performance? What kind of feedback do you imagine the judges are giving here?

This may be premature to say, but after watching one clip of Bobby Flay saying nobody can understand what Rodney is saying, that means Rodney may be faced with elimination for sure this time. I guess that's the way the pie crust coagulates - or the way the ball bounces. We will no doubt have to wait for another season to see if a real pie-lover can do what Jeff "Sandwich King" Mauro has done.

    • Mark says:

What has the sandwich king done? You or I could do it. What a gravy job. Take a muffler off yer car. Put it between 2 pieces of bread. Whola! Any meal can be a sandwich. It must be a few jokes he makes because it sure isn't his cooking.

      • Robert Ostrowski says:

Mark - FYI - the major thing that I focused on was RODNEY'S PROVEN IN-ability to COMMUNICATE his POV PROPERLY! I have watched Rodney's performance over the last 5 weeks and there were times when his communication skills in public were subpar, and in 2 cases, so was his FOOD!. Even he himself knows he has a lot to do if he wants to become the NFNS. I, for one, want "The Pie Man" to BE "The Pie Man". I'm a pie-lover and want to see Rodney DELIVER on it. But after what I saw this week in the preview of next episode, he is now on borrowed time.

Giada says: "Now that was a perfect pronounciation of r-r-r-r-icotta"!

  3. Audrey says:

In a Humphrey Bogart voice: Here's lookin' at you, sweetheart.

  4. Frank Rizzo says:

You've redeemed yourself. Now I won't have to thwack you with the Spatula.

  5. Erin D. says:

"Why doesn't she ever look at me like that?" wondered Bobby.

  6. Ange says:

Bobby: "That's right Giada let them think its good, wait to they see what's next."

  7. Annette Aben says:

Now, I'M slinging two big guns....

  8. Lucilla says:

    Badabim badabum ! ( said Giada )

  9. Thomas says:

    Right back at'cha!
