Caption It: Face Plant

by in Community, June 21, 2013

Alton Brown, Giada De Laurentiis and Bobby FlayIt's no secret that the finalists face a mountain of pressures week after week, cooking against the clock in all-or-nothing challenges, strutting their stuff for a crew of cameras and enduring hours-long evaluations that ultimately determine their futures. But what about the mentors, Alton, Bobby and Giada? They, too, grapple with a series of Star stresses, as it is, after all, up to them to narrow down the crop of contestants before you, the fans, choose your next star. The burden is on them to find each competitor's strengths and weaknesses, and give them the tools they need to show off the former and improve the latter, all while maintaining the distance and fairness of a judge. Alton, Bobby and Giada handle the job differently depending on the day, but for each of them, when the work becomes particularly trying, sometimes all that's left to do is laugh.

Take a look at the sneak-peek photo above from Sunday's all-new episode: Alton, Giada and Bobby have gathered at evaluation, and it seems that for Giada, the moment is simply too much to bear. She's face-first on the table while Alton offers a well-meaning giggle and Bobby displays a look of apparent confusion. Do you think they've just endured a particularly difficult elimination, or have they taken a brief break from deliberation to relax among friends?

Before you tune in this Sunday at 9pm/8c to find out what's going on, we’re challenging you, Star fans, to write your best captions (tastefully appropriate, please) for this moment in the comments below.

So no Danushka and no Paula Deen? Sounds like no more Food Network for me.

  2. Chris says:

As for the Paula Deen firing, this is now typical america, a nation full of spineless, people. That would praise the politically correct, over true honesty. If anyone on this network, or any other, can say they have never said a bad thing about someone of another race, background, or religion, they are liars. Everyone from the south and other places that are her age and older have definitely used hurtful words about someone else. Suck it up and go on, we live and learn!!!!

When the little one keeps you up all night, you nap whenever you can.

No, Giada... Bobby's show is Throwdown, not throw UP.

Let's get back to the topic of captioning, shall we? If you don't agree with FN and want to stop watching it, then do that. It won't hurt them because most people would be shocked if they DIDN'T take this seriously. It offends a good percentage of their audience and makes sponsors withdraw their sponsorship. They had no choice.

as for me i will never watch fn again... most rediculous thing ever..paula deen doesnt have a harsh bone in her body.. check will all your other fn stars and employees.. if you did you would have to fold up shop and go home.. as for me you already have.. i love you paula...

  6. SouthFNViewer says:

Bobby: Alton was just telling me a joke about Southerners and I just thought you might like to hear it. Paula Deen told it to him!

  7. Auntie Mame says:

Alton to Giada: You've done this entire judging segment with spinach between your teeth!

  8. Phil says:

Lovely makes a donut that was as hard as a rock from pizza dough. And her food has bombed every time. Not to mention that her "theme" really is too much!!! Yeah they got it right this week. What worries me is the Network Star Salvation program with Robert Irvine. Please, please do not let Danuschka and Lovely back on! There were some redeeming features of the other two, but .... heaven forbid!!!!

  9. Regular Gal says:

See! I do NOT have blonde roots.

"Geesh...can't anyone see that saying the "N" word is wrong!
