To give you a sneak peek at the personalities of Team Alton, Team Bobby and Team Giada, we’re introducing a finalist per day leading up to the bigger-than-ever Food Network Star premiere on Sunday, May 13, at 9pm/8c. Don’t miss the casting special on Saturday, May 12, at 9pm/8c for a behind-the-scenes glimpse at each finalist’s road to Star-dom, including footage of their final one-on-one auditions with their respective team leaders.

Last but not least, our final Star of the Day is Eric Lee from Team Bobby. Eric, 44, graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and now lives in Petaluma, California. He worked for 11 years as the executive chef of a winery before leaving to shoot Food Network Star.

Fun facts about Eric from Food Network Magazine:

  • Claim to fame: He has cooked for Al Roker on the Today show, demonstrating wine-friendly dishes he developed for Simi Winery in Sonoma, Calif., like bucatini with crab.
  • Dream-show concept: A travel and cooking show called "Fork in the Road." It's like Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with ethnic restaurants.
  • Secret ingredient: Mushrooms. His favorite variety is the trumpet royale, which he wraps in prosciutto and grills.

    An artist Of pairing food and wine, Chef Eric's food is sublime in every way. U have had the privilege of indulging in his cuisine several times and each time I've left satisfied with a memorable flavor and personal experience. I'm so pleased to see him spread his wings and expand beyond the winery to a new and wider audience!

    FYI for Food Network. Simi Winery is located in the city of Healdsburg, not Sonoma. While both citys are in Sonoma County, Healdsburg is in the northern part of the county (where the best wines are produced...big shout out for Alexander Valley), and Sonoma is in the southern part of the county (good wines too, I'll admit).

      exactly! Healdsburg is about a 45 minute drive away from Sonoma. much farther away from SF and Napa

    I learned some of the most valuable cooking lessons I still carry with me to this day, From Eric in the kitchen at Simi. He's patient, cheerful, calm, and generous with his time and instruction. Plus I'll never forget that he plated up all the foods for the wine servers/servers after a big fancy meal we would serve to others, so we would have the same experience as the guests. One of the earliest dishes I will never forget was a chocolate, espresso, and banana cake served with 50+ year old port. Unbelievable
