Kick the Artificial Habit

Research suggests that folks who consume large amounts of artificial sweeteners may increase their likelihood to crave other sweet foods and pack on the pounds. Trying to cut back on sugar? Then cut back on the faux sugars too.

Choose Fruit

Fruit can provide natural sweetness plus fiber, antioxidants and vitamins A and C. Pass on the candy and grab your favorite fruit instead – you’ll save calories and gain numerous good-for-you nutrients.

Sip and Chew

When the urge strikes for high sugar junk, sip on tea or chomp on some gum. It's often enough of a distraction to quell those cravings.

Be Realistic

Vowing to give up sugar for good probably isn’t going to work out. Face the facts, small amounts of high sugar foods can be part of a healthy diet--moderation is the key!

Downsize

Think quality, not quantity. Instead of just promising yourself that you'll eat less, put a calorie cap into affect. Keep portions of sugary foods to no more than 150 calories per day. Stick to this rule and you'll keep undesired weight gain at bay.
