5 Fun Things To Do With Tomato Sauce

When the season comes to a close, don’t let those fresh tomatoes go to waste! Make your own tomato sauce, then freeze and use it these five ways.

#1: Soup
Make a speedy bowl of tomato soup using tomato sauce. It’s a perfect way to get your dose of lycopene, an antioxidant shown to help lower the risk of heart disease and cancer.

#2: Eggs
Shakshuka (aka Eggs in Purgatory) is a mouthwatering Israeli dish. Cut prep time by using premade tomato sauce like in Giada’s recipe.

#3: Tuna Marinara
Use jarred or homemade tomato sauce and combine with canned tuna for a quick tuna marinara. Toss over pasta for a delicious weeknight meal.

Out of fresh tomatoes? Use a few tablespoons of homemade tomato sauce instead to make a delicious grilled cheese sandwich.

    I love spicy Rotel tomatoes and will scramble some eggs with diced onions and put rotel on top before I eat them (a bit of a deconstructed omelet).

    Sometimes when I'm really busy, I'll cook some broccoli with celery seed, fennel seed, salt red pepper, black pepper, olive oil and water. Then I'll prepare a package of Nissin chow mein noodles (chicken) as directed on the package. Then I put the noodles in a bowl stir in a good portion of diced rotel tomatoes, add my broccoli and sprinkle with some garlic salt. It's like a broke student's insane stir fry almost.
