Although it’s easy to give into kids’ pleas for the same old not-so-healthy foods, parents and caregivers should provide a variety of dishes that will help kids grow and develop. Happily, summer offers a great opportunity to break away from the same old chicken nugget and mac-and-cheese routine. The season’s bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables make for deliciously healthy dishes kids will love. Here’s a sampling.

    IMO children should eat what is served. That's how we grew up and we didn't suffer or throw a tantrum. These are nice ideas, but mom shouldn't be a catering chef. One meal for the whole family and if you don't like it, you don't eat.

    I'm in my 60s now and finally getting my weight under control. I cry as I look at children who are overweight as I think of the agonies ahead of them. I also agree parents should expect children to eat what they are served BUT I believe that they should be served foods to entice their appetites and their palates!
