Nut-Free Lunch Options by Dana Angelo White in Back to School, September 11, 2012

Nowadays, making classrooms or school lunch tables “nut free” is necessary to keep kiddies with allergies safe. Whether you have a little one with an allergy or kiddos that attend an allergy-sensitive school, here are some delicious replacements for typically nut-inspired foods.
1.) Cream Cheese and Jelly
This classic sandwich is an oldie but goodie. Make it extra special with homemade jam.
2.) Soy Nut Butter
A tasty alternative for dipping apple slices, carrot sticks or with jelly on whole-grain bread.
3.) Sunflower Butter
Sunflower seeds finely ground into a creamy butter – use as a replacement for peanut butter on sandwiches or in dressings for salads or noodle dishes.
4.) Granola Bars
Replace the nuts in your favorite granola bar recipe with a combination or crushed pretzels and pumpkin seeds – heaps of nutrition and not a nut in sight.
5.) Sweet Treats
Missing those peanut-filled goodies at the bake sale? Try replacing nuts or peanut butter chips in cookies with butterscotch chips instead.
