Food News: Hotels Debut Healthier Menus

Healthier fare, coming to a hotel near you.

Fairmont Hotels and Westin Hotels & Resorts are setting the standard for new hotel meal options. Both companies have rolled out healthy menus for even the pickiest of eaters.

Travelers with diet-dependent conditions like diabetes, heart disease and food allergies can rest easy when staying at a Fairmont thanks to the company’s new Lifestyle Cuisine Plus menu, which includes a selection of appetizers, entrees and desserts that focus on health and well-being.

Guests will also find heart-healthy, vegan, raw, macrobiotic and gluten-free options like Baked Tofu with Bean Noodles (gluten free), Zucchini, Carrot, Portobello and Cashew Butter Pave (raw) and Chocolate Ganache Flan (vegan).

Fairmont also offers five new varieties of wellness teas, juices, shakes and more.

Meanwhile, Westin Hotels & Resorts has stepped up the healthy offerings, as well. The company’s SuperFoodsRX menu was put together by doctors and nutritionists who paired certain foods for maximum nutritional value.

Dishes like Rich Old-Fashioned Tomato Soup with Basil and Low-Fat Greek Yogurt and Sauteed Shrimp with Lemon, Avocado, Arugula and Teardrop Tomatoes are distinguished from regular menu offerings by a SuperFoodsRX label.
