Brown Bag ChallengeWe’re teaming up with fellow food bloggers to host a Brown-Bag Challenge, a month-long initiative to eat consciously and save money by packing a lunch each weekday instead of eating out. Join us here and share what you’re eating on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #brownbag.

We’re doing this month-long pack-your-lunch-for-work challenge, and we mean for you to take your lunch along in style. So along with recipes and tips for how to complete a month of  packed lunches, we’re also giving you a change to win a cool lunch container, courtesy of  black+blum.

This one’s similar to the lunch pot we gave a way last week, only this one’s black (last week’s was white). The whole affair consists of two pots that lock together with a watertight seal. This allows you to pack a salad separate from some soup. You can pack leftover pasta and some applesauce right on top of each other, without worrying about the juices of one running into the other. And best of all, the lunch pot comes with a little carry strap and a spork, an ingenious cross between a spoon and a fork. It’s also dishwasher and microwave safe, and BPA free.

You can buy your own lunch pot from black+blum or enter in the comments for a chance to win your own. Just let us know, in the comments, what you brought for your brown-bag lunch today. The contest starts at 10 a.m. EST today, and ends on Monday, September 12 at 10 a.m. EST.

You may only comment once to be considered and you don’t have to purchase anything to win; a purchase will not increase your chances of winning. Odds depend on total number of entries. Void where prohibited. Only open to legal residents of 50 U.S. states, D.C. or Puerto Rico, and you must be at least 18 to win. For the first day of the giveaway, all entries (answers) must be entered between 10 a.m. EST on September 8 and 10 a.m. EST on September 12. Subject to full official rules. By leaving a comment on the blog, you acknowledge your acceptance to the Official Rules. ARV of each prize: $22.00. Sponsor: Scripps Networks, LLC, d/b/a Food Network, 9721 Sherrill Blvd, Knoxville, TN 37932

I have been so excited about my lunch since the challenge started. Tomorrow's lunch, that's packed and ready to go is sliced honey turkey with provolone on Hawaiian roll ( lettuce, tomato and mayo in individual baggies), sun chips, pluot, and peach yogurt. My snack for later in the day is celery with cream cheese. Yummy!!!

  2. April Sullivan says:

I always make a turkey cheese wheat wrap with lettuce and chopped grapes and pack half an apple that I split with my boyfriend, who works from home! :)

  3. Margie says:

I usually have a spinach salad, small can of tuna and water.

  4. Meghan says:

I had yellow curry vegetable and tofu lasagne – delicious! Some fruit salad and tomato and cucumber salad.

  5. sonya says:

Tomato basil soup and a turkey ham and Swiss sandwich. YUM! I love packing my lunch. I can be creative and full of flavor since I am allergic to onions and garlic. Most restaurants give me limited options.

  6. Cheryl S. says:

Chicken Salad on whole wheat crackers.

  7. Reuben says:

Just a PB&J sandwich, if you will. I also like it when I'm surprised by someone sneaking something else in there. :D

  8. Pam says:

I had tuna with chipole mayo on whole wheat bread with an apple.

  9. Sherry says:

My favorite lunch is usually what ever is left over from last night's dinner :D Whether I had homemade tomato bisque or tomato and cucumber salad or a bacon and egg sandwich made before work… Grilled meats are wonderful sliced up on top of a big salad… with some fruit brought along for good measure.

  10. Shantell says:

Prepacked my lunch for tomorrow. Spring mix salad with chopped red onions, cucumbers, and cherry tomatoes. Sprinkled with reduce fat feta cheese. Paula red apple slices with maple almond butter and a bottle water. I also pack a measuring spoon to measure out my salad dressing.
