Herb's Sweet Potato Mash

Gobble, gobble! That’s exactly what my family is going to do this Thanksgiving, and it’s less than a week away. For my Turkey Day celebration, I like to take traditional holiday dishes, like sweet potatoes, and find a way to add my own touch of personality.  Move over, marshmallows, ’cause my sweet potato dish has a meaner sidekick: spicy sriracha chili sauce.  Try this mash on your holiday table: It’s sweet, it’s spicy and it might just give your guests a new reason to be thankful this Thanksgiving.

Herb’s Mashed Sweet Potato
8 servings

Ingredients:
4 large sweet potatoes, peeled and quartered
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 stick butter
1/2 cup half and half
1 tablespoon sriracha or chili sauce

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Place cut potatoes on a baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil and dust with salt, pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg; bake for 1 hour until soft. Cool potatoes and place in large bowl; add butter, half and half and sriracha. Mash or for smooth and creamy texture, use an electric mixer.
