Mom was right when she said breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But what you choose for breakfast can make or break your day (sorry, bacon didn’t make the list). Here are our top 8 foods that help make your morning meal a healthy one.

Nonfat Greek Yogurt
With more hunger-fighting protein than traditional yogurt, it’ll keep those mid-morning hunger pangs at bay. Learn to make your own, or try our top Greek yogurt picks.

Oatmeal
Start your day off with a warm bowl of oatmeal — choose rolled or steel cut oats.
Skip the sugary packets and add a little sweetness with dried fruit,
applesauce
or a touch of honey or brown sugar. Use your slow cooker to make getting a healthy breakfast even simpler.

Berries

    You made one small mistake with the first food on this list: non-fat greek yogurt. Yogurt, as any dairy food, should contain a small amount of fat in order for the body to be able to digest and metabolize the proteins properly. Also research has shown that a small amount of the original butterfat satiates the appetite better than nonfat products do, so the tendency to eat more than one should is reduced.

    I like philly steak, a small onion, tomato, cooked in olive oil spray, with a corn tortilla, and citrus fruit or strawberries for bkfst, when I eat it. I know all of the arguements in favor of breakfast being important,( and ideally, the lagest meal, or as much so as the midday meal) of the day, but I can't force myself to eat in the morning. Also love tofu sauteed with garlic, tomato, soy sauce, basil,onion, (allergic to eggs, alas! I LOVE omelettes) with a whole-grain rice cake, tortilla, or tiny amount of brown rice, or yogurt or tofu pureed with vanilla, ftruit juice concentrate, or unsweetened cocoa or melted chocolate and seasonal fruit on the side. Honestly, "breakfast" these days is a cup or two of coffee, lots of water, and ephedra or a Bronchaid, and a piece of fruit or juice. Awful, I know. It's just until allergy season ends.
