Thanksgiving Menu: A More Traditional Spread by in Healthy Recipes, Thanksgiving, November 2, 2009

Perfect Roast Turkey
November is here and that means it’s time to think turkey. If Thanksgiving means serving up classic dishes, a traditional menu is probably what you’re after. Most folks aren’t counting calories on Turkey Day, but if you’re the chef, you can still serve guests the same seasonal flavors in lighter, more gourmet package. Your family might swear that green bean casserole is a must, but throw in some variety. This spread would feed a family of six to eight (with leftovers!).

Appetizer: Prosciutto with Pears and Arugula

Main: Perfect Roast Turkey
Stick to four-ounce portions and remove the skin — this way you can plan for plenty of leftover.

Side Dishes:
Smashed Potatoes with Sour Cream and Chives
Roasted Brussels Sprouts
Roasted Carrots and Cippolini Onions

Dessert:
Apple-Cranberry Galette

Yes, we can go traditional and still keep the recipe healthy. I have watched the Perfect Roast Turkey by Ina Garten. IT is a holiday meal as she calls the show but attention has been given to wholesomeness and healthy eating.

Hey is there a good substitute for tomatos? I am allergic to tomatos , bananas, and avacoto
I mean going into shock alergic. So no any thing red including Catsup. Any bright ideas? I certainly can't be the only one. dlmattis@hotmail.com

What about red peppers? Roasted ones are very tasty and raw in salads are pretty and good.
