What to Watch: Mexican Food with a Southern Twist, Bobby’s Barbecue, and Stars on the Silver Screen

What to WatchThis weekend, Food Network’s new episodes cover a little bit of everything, including Mexican night, movie night, packed lunches to go, barbecuing, muffins, cupcakes and more.

Start your Saturday morning with recipe ideas for a packed lunch to go, as Ree prepares sandwiches and salads for a group meeting. Then Trisha gets to cooking a Latin-style menu with her workout instructors. Later, Giada shares her favorite muffin recipe with various mix-in ideas.

On Sunday morning, Jamie Deen is preparing dishes for taco night with a Southern twist. Then Guy is cooking a special lobster dish. On Sandwich King, Jeff is remaking the sloppy joe to be healthier for his son Lorenzo. And Bobby is barbecuing bison short ribs and grilling fish tacos.

Then in the evening, come back for some competition, starting with a toy-themed episode of Cupcake Wars. Then it’s off to the movies on Food Network Star, where teams of the remaining finalists must cook and create movie trailers. And finally, on Restaurant: Impossible, Robert must help revitalize a Greek diner.

What to Watch: A Special Chopped/Star Crossover and Father’s Day in the Kitchen

ChoppedThis Father’s Day weekend, Food Network has new episodes geared toward the guys. First, Paula is cooking “dad food” with her son Jamie. Then Ree is cooking breakfast and lunch for her cowboys. Then Trisha is making “manly” food for her husband, Garth, and his two buddies. Afterward, Giada is making a special dinner for her husband, Todd. Then on Sunday, Guy is in the kitchen with his two sons, nephew and dad. And Jeff is taking a stroll down memory lane with his dad.

Right after, watch the season premiere of Bobby Flay’s Barbecue Addiction. Bobby is preparing a Mexican feast with bold flavors. And on Sunday evening, it’s a special night of Chopped (also, don’t forget to watch the After Hours episode online right after the show). On Food Network Star, the 10 remaining contestants get put through a Chopped challenge judged by Alex Guarnaschelli. And last, it’s Robert Irvine to the rescue on a new episode of Restaurant: Impossible.

On Giada at Home, Giada’s offering up a taste of barbecue throughout the nation. Then on Sunday, Jamie Deen is cooking a meal for his firefighter friends. And afterward, Guy gets in the kitchen with his Team Guy champion from Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off, Dean McDermott. Then on Sandwich King, Jeff cooks up a number of different burgers with his son, Lorenzo, by his side.

On Sunday night, take your seats for a special night of competition. First it’s an episode of Chopped that challenges the contestants to fry up something in each of their dishes. Then it’s the season premiere of Food Network Star with Giada, Alton and Bobby mentoring 12 hopefuls who are competing to win the coveted TV dream job. And last, it’s the finale of Iron Chef America Tournament of Champions with Iron Chef Symon vs. Iron Chef Garces.

What to Watch: Season Premieres of Trisha Yearwood and Jamie Deen, and Guy Cooks With Chilli From TLC

Jamie DeenThis weekend, Food Network has season premieres of Trisha’s Southern Kitchen and Home for Dinner With Jamie Deen, along with a lot of great new episodes.

On Saturday morning, Trisha is joined in the kitchen by her friend Karri and they’re cooking up a steak dinner. Afterward it’s a special episode of Giada in Paradise, as Giada takes viewers on an adventure through one of the most dazzling European cities, Monte Carlo.

On Sunday morning, Jamie Deen and his son Jack are setting up a pop-up restaurant in the backyard with a menu that will appeal to adults and kids alike. Afterward Chilli from TLC joins Guy in the kitchen to cook a bouillabaisse. Later in the morning on Sandwich King, Jeff takes a trip down memory lane back to his college town and prepares a pork sandwich and grilled ham.

In the evening it’s a special Harlem Globetrotters-themed episode of Cupcake Wars. After that, it’s Iron Chef Garces vs. Iron Chef Morimoto in the fourth battle of Iron Chef America Tournament of Champions. Finally, Robert Irvine helps save a barbecue restaurant in Texas.

Start your Saturday morning with an episode of Giada at Home, where Giada and her aunt Raffy share favorite recipes of Giada’s grandfather Dino. Then in the evening it’s a special 1-hour episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, offering up an exclusive look at never-before-seen footage of all the antics that didn’t make the regular episode cuts.

On Sunday, watch Guy in the kitchen with Chef Jonathan Waxman as the two cook up an Italian menu that includes a seafood salad and a spring soup. After, on Sandwich King, Jeff meets his match, “the Breakfast King,” and learns to make some unique breakfast sandwiches that he’ll later adapt. In the evening, tune in to see a cosmic-themed episode of Cupcake Wars. Then it’s round 2, battle 1 of the Iron Chef America tournament. And last, watch a new episode of Restaurant: Impossible where Robert must help a family fix their dysfunctional restaurant and relationships.

Later in the morning, Giada makes modern interpretations of Mexican dishes. On Sunday morning, Guy’s cooking a south-of-the-border feast. And on Sandwich King, Jeff is making Mexican wraps.

On Sunday evening tune in to all the competition, starting with a new episode of Cupcake Wars, where the bakers compete for a chance to serve their goods at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival. Then it’s the finale of Chopped All-Stars. Watch to see if Sunny, Gavin, Scott or Laila takes the championship. And last, it’s the premiere of Iron Chef America: Tournament of Champions, in which Iron Chef battles Iron Chef. In this first battle, Geoffrey Zakarian is up against Alex Guarnaschelli.

What to Watch Tonight: Finale of Chef Wanted and Premiere of Giving You the Business

Chef Wanted Nikki BeachChef Wanted comes to a jet-setting finish on tonight’s episode at a special time of 9pm/8c. Watch as Anne Burrell brings in four candidates who are fighting for a chance to get the executive chef position at the new Ibiza location of upscale restaurant Nikki Beach. The chefs will be put through two rigorous cooking tests at the restaurant’s Miami Beach location. The two remaining finalists will each get a chance to prove themselves to the owners in a dinner service, but only one will be offered the new position.

Right afterward at 10pm/9c, watch the premiere of Food Network’s new series Giving You the Business, hosted by NBA star Walter Bond. On this episode, four unsuspecting employees of restaurant franchise Famous Famiglia Pizzeria will be secretly tested in a series of outrageous challenges designed to gauge their skills at running a business. With hidden cameras capturing every move, the strongest candidate will walk away with the keys to the franchise.
