Shed fans know that Brad Orrison is the mastermind behind The Shed
, the mecca for barbecue in southern Mississippi, but what fans might not know is that Hobson wasn’t the original pit master — it was Brad. “Food was always a passion for the family,” Brad recently told FN Dish. “During my college years I opened both a pizzeria and sushi joint. But what I loved the most was the aspect of barbecue.” From the restaurant’s inception to date, Brad has worn many hats.

When you walk through The Shed doors for the very first time, you’re in awe. There’s so much hustle and bustle happening around the grounds — from barbecue flying out the kitchen doors and blues music outside on the stage to the First Family of Mississippi Barbecue making you feel as though you’re one of them, it’s a one-of-a-kind experience. Scotty recently told FN Dish, “The first time you walk into The Shed, you’re a stranger. The second time, you’re family.” When customers are in the dining room or at any one of the picnic tables outside, there’s an instant feeling of wanting to be a Shedhed, a term the Orrisons have coined for their customers. Now you can be. You’ll see Brad, Brooke, Momma and Daddy-O sporting Shed shirts (like Coal Miner pictured above), as well as all their staff — each donning a different color, making it their own by cutting it up, drawing on it or tying it into braids.

A new family is coming to Food Network: the Orrisons, known as the First Family of Mississippi Barbecue. The saying goes, a family that eats together stays together. Well, this family not only does that, they also work together. Brother and sister team Brad and Brooke run the business of The Shed, a popular barbecue joint, while their parents, Mama Shed and Daddy-O, work for them. How many families can say that? But somehow this uncommon dynamic works — most of the time.
The new series features a look inside the business and all the happenings surrounding The Shed, following each family member and employee, who make up a colorful cast of personalities. It’s a real-life sitcom slathered in barbecue sauce! Watch a sneak-peek episode of The Shed on Sunday, August 4 at 10pm/9c and tune in for the premiere on Monday, August 5 at 10pm/9c.

For the Orrison family, barbecuing isn’t simply a habit; it’s a way of life they’ve adopted in Mississippi, where they run a string of successful ‘cue joints called The Shed. This loveably quirky and offbeat bunch is known for their over-the-top personalities and offers food to match, specializing in finger-lickin’-good ribs and from-scratch barbecue sauce. Together, brother-and-sister duo Brad Orrison and Brooke Lewis — the founders of The Shed — along with their parents, Daddy-O and Mamma Mia, are shining a light on their barbecue business as well as their day-to-day adventures on an all-new upcoming series, The Shed.
Premiering Sunday, Aug. 4 at 10pm, then airing every Monday night at the same time, The Shed will follow Brad, Brooke and an entire cast of “ShedHeads” inside the wild happenings at their restaurants. It will show off the eccentric dynamics at work as they run their business, compete in national ‘cue competitions and maintain a strong family bond — all while observing “The Shed Philosophy.” From the muddy swamps and garages to the bull-shaped barbecues at their holiday-lights-clad restaurants, the Orrisons prove what makes their brood one-of-a-kind and their award-winning meats worthy of the hype.
