The end of summer is a big deal for kids. If your young ones have already gone back to school, they’re transitioning from camp and family vacations to rowdy rides on the school bus, binders filled with homework and snacks before soccer practice. If they haven’t gone back yet, those days are coming up fast. This school year, ease their back-to-school shift with easy kid-friendly snacks. These recipes for kid-friendly midday refueling will satisfy and re-energize your kids while still leaving room for dinner. Here are some wholesome, homemade Food Network favorites:
Salty square crackers are suited to so much more than out-of-the-box snacking. Take it from Trisha, who drizzles saltines with butter, brown sugar and chocolate for Sweet and Saltines (pictured above), reaching that perfect cross between salty and sweet. Hey, it’s a whole lot better than passing kids a candy bar.

If you’re raising some budding scholars or you’re studying the day away yourself, you can bet all eyes are on the calendar these last few days before summer. And amidst all the final exams and projects, even the most focused student is bound to get hungry. When you need brain power the strength of jet fuel to get through a tricky finals season, look no further than Food Network’s healthy snack recipes. Just in time for college finals season, these wholesome, easy bites definitely beat a trip to the vending machine.

There’s no denying that potato chips are a classic road-trip pick; they’re easy to eat, pleasing to everyone’s taste buds and available at every rest stop. However, they’re often laden with fat and covered in sodium. Our Curry Potato Chips (pictured above) from Food Network Magazine are baked, not fried, and dusted with warm curry powder. Pack these in plastic baggies to easily dole them out to the back seat crew.
