An Interview with the Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off, Season 3 Champion

by in Shows, February 10th, 2014

RvG FinaleOn tonight’s Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off, for the first time ever, four celebrities competed in the finale for the title of RvG Champion and the prize of a $50,000 donation to the charity of their choice. After six weeks of honing their skills at a variety of cooking challenges, which included Medieval meals, Hawaiian luaus, supermarket product marketing, game-day foods and selling from a hot dog cart, the final four entered their most-difficult challenge yet. The celebrities were tasked with cooking a three-course meal for seven of the most-discerning celebrity chefs — and it all happened on a boat with one of the most-cramped kitchens. But the challenge wasn’t complete until they performed a presentation of their choosing. Who would show the judges that they could both cook a cohesive dinner and entertain effortlessly? FN Dish has the exclusive interview with the winner.

Tonight’s episode began with four celebrities but by the end would drop down to two. Though the celebrities would continue to compete in two separate teams, they would be judged individually. And at the end of the day, two would be eliminated from the bottom three. The challenge required the celebrities to serve meals out of food trucks to a hungry lunch crowd of 100 within a time limit of two hours. Unfortunately, not everyone could cope with the difficulties of the challenge, but that didn’t mean those who did do well were any safer.

The challenge required the celebrities to serve meals out of food trucks to a hungry lunch crowd within a limited amount of time. Unfortunately, not everyone could handle the demands of the challenge.

On tonight’s episode, the remaining five celebrities found themselves in a challenge that would test not only their ability to cater for a crowd, but to please even the pickiest of eaters: kids. Each team had to cater a separate kids’ party and make sure they were cooking foods that their clients actually liked. Each celebrity had to make one savory and one sweet dish with 30 servings each. At the end of the day, the result of the challenge proved to be one of the most surprising yet.

On tonight’s episode, the six remaining celebrities found themselves at Mel’s Drive-In. The challenge this time would be to create a full diner experience for the customers. One person from each team would be required to attend the front of the house while the remaining two cooked in the back. The goal was to test the celebrities’ adaptability in reinventing three classic diner dishes: the tuna melt, cheeseburger and club sandwich. Unfortunately, Team Guy was not allowed to choose who would make which sandwich, putting them at a disadvantage that landed them in the bottom again.

On tonight’s episode, the seven remaining celebrities took a trip to Underwood Family Farms. The challenge required them to cook a meal for the farm’s employees utilizing freshly picked produce. The one catch? The celebs themselves would have to pick the vegetables directly from the fields. As expected, not all of them were happy to trade in the red carpet for fields of dirt, but some took to the challenge surprisingly well. Two strong competitors, however, ended up in the bottom two.

On tonight’s premiere, the eight celebrities walked in on the red carpet and stepped directly into the competition. The challenge for the first episode combined cooking and entertaining, but not as you might initially think. The celebrity that was sent home unfortunately only excelled at one task and not the other.
