For years, Marc Summers revealed the whats and hows of timeless snack foods on Food Network’s Unwrapped. And beginning tomorrow, he’ll be part of the all-new series Rewrapped, wherein three hopeful contestants must re-create a sweet or savory treat, then use the original item in an inspired dish all of their own. Marc will sit on the judges’ panel alongside two other culinary experts, and together they must determine which competitor’s offerings are worthy of the prize: a lifetime supply of snacks. FN Dish was recently on the set of Rewrapped, and we caught up with Marc to look back on Unwrapped and to get his insider’s perspective on what’s ahead on Rewrapped. Read on below to learn his thoughts on both series, then hear from host Joey Fatone.
What are you most looking forward to in this competition?
Getting back on television would be No. 1, on fresh shows. I just think it’s fun. All the other competition shows on Food Network are pretty intense. This one, you smile during the whole thing. It’s snack foods, it’s junk foods, it’s kind of everything we ever did on Unwrapped, but I think when you see the Twinkie or the Hostess cupcake or the Bloomin’ Onion or SpaghettiOs, you think … “I identify with them.” And then seeing if somebody can duplicate it is just fun. We kind of hit the ground running on day one. It just seemed like we’d been doing it forever. Joey’s a great host. He brings a certain energy to it. It’s effortless.

The all-new series Rewrapped starring your favorite sweet and savory snacks premieres on Monday night (8|7c), where host Joey Fatone will be leading the competition between three eager contestants. It’s up to them to first re-create the snack of the day, then invent a new dish incorporating the original item for a panel of judges, including Marc Summers of Food Network’s Unwrapped. FN Dish was recently on the set of Rewrapped and caught up with Joey to find out more about what’s in store this season. Read on below for an exclusive interview with the host, then hear from judge Marc Summers.
What are you most looking forward to in this competition?
I’m looking forward to seeing how creative these people get. That’s the cool thing about it. You get the re-creation of the actual snack, but the Innovate challenge sees how inventive they can be with the snack. [It] is really kind of cool to see how they get really crazy with the ideas.

For years Marc Summers was the face of Food Network’s Unwrapped, pulling back the curtain on some of your all-time favorite snack foods and exposing just how they come to be in the factory. But come this spring, he’ll go one step further in the world of munchies by judging a snack food showdown on Rewrapped. Just in time for next month’s premiere (on Monday, April 21 at 8|7c), FN Dish caught up with Marc to learn a bit more about his own cooking habits, plus some of his favorite foods and go-to late-night bites. Read on below to hear from Marc, then find out more about the host of Rewrapped, Joey Fatone.
Do you cook at home? If so, what’s your signature dish?
Marc Summers: I do, but my wife is a better cook than I am, so, not that we’re ever in competition, but she’s just so darn good at it that I don’t do it much. When I’m in California … I like to barbecue. So I’m the king of barbecue in L.A., but the rest of the time my wife is cooking.

Although he was once a competitor on such fierce contests as Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off and Chopped All-Stars, Joey Fatone is trading in his apron for a host’s suit on the all-new series Rewrapped (premiering Monday, April 21 at 8|7c). FN Dish caught up with the former musical superstar on the set of his upcoming show to chat about his signature dish, go-to late-night bite and favorite people to cook with. Read on below to hear from Joey, then hear from Marc Summers, a judge on Rewrapped.
Do you cook at home?
Joey Fatone: I do. I do enjoy cooking at home. It’s hard when you have kids because they like certain things, so sometimes you end up making the same thing over and over and over again. It’s like, “Let’s try something new, shall we?”
Whether for an after-school treat, late-day pick-me-up or just-because indulgence, beloved snack foods like Twinkies, potato chips, doughnuts and Goldfish crackers are timeless munchies that can curb cravings in a flash. While you surely have images of noshing on these bites as a child — or just recently — you’re going to see them in an all-new light on the upcoming series Rewrapped.
Hosted by Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off and Chopped All-Stars alum Joey Fatone, Rewrapped, premiering Monday, April 21 at 8|7c, will celebrate these tried-and-true comfort foods — and put a competitive spin on them. With limited time to cook in Round 1, three competitors will have to re-create the chosen snack of the day for a panel of discerning food folks and snack-brand experts. The goal is to make their version resemble the original as much as possible in areas like taste, texture and appearance in order to earn points they can carry into Round 2. It’s then a matter of reinvention, as the rivals must use the packaged good to devise a dish all their own. From savory takes on a traditional sweet treat to next-level dessert plates and almost everything in between, competitors will have to deliver on creativity above all else if they want to wow permanent judge Marc Summers, the host of Food Network’s Unwrapped, plus the other evaluators. In the end, however, only one will have earned enough points to claim lasting glory and, best of all, a lifetime supply of their challenge snack.
