Daytime Emmy Nominations Are Out: Congrats to Giada, Bobby, Guy, Jeff, Sandra, Paula and More by in Events, May 9th, 2012

Today, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced the nominees for the 39th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards, and Food Network has multiple reasons to celebrate — make that 12 reasons.

Four of our very own shows are nominated for Outstanding Culinary Program: Bobby Flay’s Barbecue Addiction, Giada at Home, Guy’s Big Bite and Sandwich King.

Food Network is also nominated for the following awards:

Outstanding Lifestyle/ Culinary Host: Giada De Laurentiis for Giada at Home, Paula Deen for Paula’s Best Dishes and Sandra Lee for Semi-Homemade Cooking.

Alton Brown has teamed with Welch’s and Zagat to introduce the Taste of Harvest Guide for 2012, which includes a free downloadable guide for picking fresh, local and seasonal foods to encourage and excite people about eating produce. Fitness Magazine featured this must-have eating guide and spotlighted Alton’s love for the fall harvest, when nutrients and flavor are at their highest levels. The guide encourages shopping at farmers’ markets for fresh items to prepare at home and finding restaurants that are offering seasonal fare.

Meet the Stars, Get Your Books Signed During October by in Food Network Chef, October 5th, 2011

Guy Fieri will host Brew B’Que at the Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival in Santa Monica, Calif., October 13-16. Chefs from across the country will be serving their top home-style barbecue recipes alongside beers from all over the world. A portion of the proceeds will benefit St. Vincent Meals on Wheels. The four-day event will also feature Tyler Florence, Masaharu Morimoto, Duff Goldman, Scott Conant, Giada De Laurentiis and Michael Chiarello.

On a sometimes wet but beautiful fall weekend in New York City, for four days Food Network personalities traveled from far and wide for a cause: to end hunger. Now in its fourth year, this has been the focus of the New York City Wine and Food Festival, which brings together the best of the best and celebrates food in its finest forms: meatballs, burgers, fried chicken, sandwiches, tacos, desserts and more.

We caught up with Giada, Bobby, Paula, Duff, Anne, the Neelys, Marcela, Sunny, Jeff, Marc and Claire to talk about what this festival means to them, share some of their secrets and find out what they are excited about.

Brunch and Jazz With Paula Deen by in Events, October 3rd, 2011

It was a brunch buffet fit for an army and an army of Paula Deen fans did indeed turn out for her Sunday Jazz Brunch at Gotham Hall in New York City.  From her own Southern Eggs Benedict to delicious dishes from guest chefs, there wasn’t an empty plate in the place. Paula, her sons and her husband addressed the large crowd and thanked them numerous times for their support of the Food Bank of New York City and Share Our Strength: “I appreciate so much y’alls support and helping solve this big problem we have in America…you’ll never realize what it means to me.”

Guy Feels the Love From Triple-D Fans and Videos to Watch by in Food Network Chef, September 21st, 2011

Guy Fieri recently met with a couple who have made a hobby out of traveling to all of the places featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. So far, Food Network fans Ben and Barb Stillwagon have been to 249 locations and have created a scrapbook collection of their travels. But it’s their latest stop at Guy’s own Johnny Garlic’s that brought them face-to-face with their inspiration and gave them a chance to share their memorabilia with him. SJ-R.com reports that “Guy asked Ben and Barb if they could leave the albums in Santa Rosa for a while so their souvenirs could be scanned into a computer for possible use in the future.” Ben described the meeting as a dream come true.

Seeing Stars in September — FN Fan Bites by in Food Network Chef, September 2nd, 2011

Duff Goldman will appear with his band, Sand Ox, at the Wing Festival in Buffalo New York Saturday, September 3. The event marks the Buffalo Wing Festival’s 10th birthday celebration. Duff and members of his band will serve as judges in the birthday cake decorating competition. Visit the festival website for details on submitting a cake entry.

Iron Chef Jose Garces will be cooking at the 26th annual Kennett Square Mushroom Festival in Pennsylvania on September 10, with a book signing to follow. Chef Garces is the author of Latin Evolution, which features the flavors and cooking styles of Spain and Latin America.

FN Fan Bites: Rachael’s Dog-Friendly Meals, Paula’s Blood Drive and Star Videos to Watch by in Food Network Chef, June 20th, 2011

In her recent interview with People magazine, Rachael Ray confessed that she makes a dog-friendly version of almost every meal she makes for dinner for her dog Isaboo. In addition to home-cooked meals, Isaboo claims the center spot of the bed between Rachael and her husband, “We haven’t slept well in six years,” says Rachael.

Paula Deen is hosting a blood drive for the American Red Cross on June 24 at her restaurant, The Lady and Son’s. Blood donors will receive a limited edition apron autographed by Paula, a buffet meal at The Lady & Sons along with their signature Gooey Butter Cakes.
