The playing field is once again even on Rachael vs. Guy Celebrity Cook-Off, with only three competitors remaining on both Rachael Ray’s and Guy Fieri’s famous teams. In this Sunday’s episode, the remaining six finalists will not compete together as Team Rachael versus Team Guy but individually, one-on-one.
Who better to evaluate this head-to-head battle than Chefs Scott Conant, Alex Guarnaschelli and Marcus Samuelsson, who have judged countless Chopped competitions. Here these all-star chefs look on curiously as the Cook-Off finalists race against the clock to execute plates that are prepared to impress. Will Judges Scott, Alex and Marcus be pleased with the contestants’ efforts or will the dishes leave more to be desired?

Two of Food Network’s most popular personalities, Rachael Ray and Guy Fieri, are going head-to-head in a new series, Rachael vs. Guy Celebrity Cook-Off. Both Rachael and Guy serve as coaches and mentors to eight multi-talented celebrities, ranging from an Olympic gold medalist to Grammy-winning artists to a Golden Globe-nominated actor — contestants who are all passionate about food and cooking.
Food Network recently caught up with Guy to talk about the show and Team Guy on Twitter and Facebook.
@Rbrittenham: What are you going to do to make your team stand out? What will set you apart?
GF: I want them to be individually creative and do their best.
@jcaonguyen: Which celebrity had no cooking experience at all prior to being on the show?
GF: All had some sort of experience, but I can’t give away insider info. You’ll be surprised just how strong they really are.

The Rachael vs. Guy Celebrity Cook-Off is heating up between Rachael Ray and Guy Fieri’s famous contestants. With just one week of the challenge under their belts, the seven remaining finalists have realized that this competition is anything but a cakewalk and that they’ll need to step up their games to win $50,000 for the charity of their choice. This week, the celebrities show off their skills in one of area of the kitchen that comes naturally to few: baking.
In this behind-the-scenes shot of Sunday’s episode, music superstar Joey Fatone takes a quick break from preparing his sweet surprise to show his team leader a little friendly affection. Guy Fieri will host Brew B’Que at the Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival in Santa Monica, Calif., October 13-16. Chefs from across the country will be serving their top home-style barbecue recipes alongside beers from all over the world. A portion of the proceeds will benefit St. Vincent Meals on Wheels. The four-day event will also feature Tyler Florence, Masaharu Morimoto, Duff Goldman, Scott Conant, Giada De Laurentiis and Michael Chiarello.

The crowd hissed, hollered and applauded as he walked on stage. Rock star? Icon? Celebrity? Pretty much. Clad in his signature spiked wristband and sporting his classic bleached-blonde ‘do, Food Network host and chef Guy Fieri spoke to a sold-out crowd on Saturday during a New York City Wine and Food Festival event at the Times Center. Interviewed by Julia Moskin of The New York Times, Fieri explained that he did not grow up with the traditional makings of a chef but instead a “funky food style” defined by “floor-of-the-earth bread” and school lunches that looked more akin to science projects than grade-school fare.
Guy recalls fondly the one dinner in particular that solidified his passion for food and set him on the road to culinary stardom. After he questioned his mother about why she was making eggplant parmesan instead of chicken like “the normal families,” she charged the young Fieri with the task of cooking dinner for the family. A few perfectly grilled rib eyes and a botched batch of pasta later, Guy realized three things about his place in the kitchen: “I cook, we can eat meat. I cook, [it] makes people happy. I cook, I don’t have to do the dishes.”

On a sometimes wet but beautiful fall weekend in New York City, for four days Food Network personalities traveled from far and wide for a cause: to end hunger. Now in its fourth year, this has been the focus of the New York City Wine and Food Festival, which brings together the best of the best and celebrates food in its finest forms: meatballs, burgers, fried chicken, sandwiches, tacos, desserts and more.
We caught up with Giada, Bobby, Paula, Duff, Anne, the Neelys, Marcela, Sunny, Jeff, Marc and Claire to talk about what this festival means to them, share some of their secrets and find out what they are excited about.

Guy Fieri recently met with a couple who have made a hobby out of traveling to all of the places featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. So far, Food Network fans Ben and Barb Stillwagon have been to 249 locations and have created a scrapbook collection of their travels. But it’s their latest stop at Guy’s own Johnny Garlic’s that brought them face-to-face with their inspiration and gave them a chance to share their memorabilia with him. SJ-R.com reports that “Guy asked Ben and Barb if they could leave the albums in Santa Rosa for a while so their souvenirs could be scanned into a computer for possible use in the future.” Ben described the meeting as a dream come true.

Anne Burrell has been hitting the bowling lanes in preparation for her Sept. 29 event, Rock & Bowl, at this year’s New York City Wine and Food Festival. Metromix New York has exclusive photos of her practice session at a retro New York bowling alley. Wearing size nine bowling shoes and a mismatched pair of pink-and-yellow socks, she admitted her first ball was a gutter ball.
Mark Dacascos burned some rubber doing several laps on the new surface of Phoenix’s International Raceway. Speedway Digest reports that the Iron Chef chairman exceeded speeds of 100 miles an hour and found the experience to be “the best video game in the world.”

Chef Aarón Sanchez has formed a partnership with the House of Blues to bring his signature Latin flavors to their tables. According to Las Vegas Weekly, “The new menu will include meals inspired by many types of cuisines, including dishes like shrimp and grits in a garlic chipotle sauce and meatball sliders.” In addition to his new show Heat Seekers, Aaron is set to launch his third restaurant this fall in Kansas City.
Guy Fieri will launch a fourth location of Johnny Garlic’s later this month in Dublin, California. Guy tells the Dublin Patch, “I’m always thinking of new dishes and I get my culinary inspirations while visiting mom-and-pop shops around the country for Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.” If you can’t get to California for the opening, you can make one of Johnny Garlic’s menu items in your own kitchen: Penne With Chipotle Shrimp and Hotlinks.
