In the words of Geoffrey Zakarian, “It’s five o’clock somewhere!” As the unofficial mixologist among The Kitchen co-hosts, he’s shaken up his share of cocktails during the show’s regular cocktail segment, pouring the cast elegant sippers and casual, party-ready drinks alike with a collection of signature barware.
Just in time for seasonal entertaining, FN Dish is giving fans a chance to add to their own home bars an engraved cocktail shaker reading “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.” Whether you use it to make classic martinis, fresh-fruit margaritas or next-level smashes, look to this workhorse of a tool to create chilled, well-mixed drinks ideal for parties.

On Guy’s Grocery Games, Guy Fieri loves to test the chefs by making them go through a number of obstacles, like suddenly having their main ingredients go missing from the market’s shelves or having them stick to a meager budget. In the No Carts Allowed game, Guy makes sure the chefs can’t use their grocery carts. Instead they must resort to using just their arms and hands, their aprons, or, if he’s feeling generous, a tote bag to carry all the ingredients they gather. With the Grocery Games logo embossed on durable cotton twill, this bag makes grocery shopping a breeze thanks to its long 11-inch handles, thick material and roomy interior.
You can buy your own tote bag here, or you can enter to win one for free from FN Dish. We’re giving 10 lucky, randomly selected readers each a Guy’s Grocery Games tote bag, and all you have to do to enter to win is leave a comment below telling us what your favorite game on the show is and why. For run-downs of the games, see here for Season 1 and here for Season 2.

On September 20, Food Network Magazine is throwing its first-ever concert — not just a music festival with a few food trucks on the side, but a full-blown food and music event with big stars from both worlds. Food Network stars are joining forces with more than 50 of the area’s greatest chefs for cooking demos, meet-and-greet opportunities and the ultimate tasting event, and seven-time Grammy Award winner John Mayer will take center stage to round out a full day of great food and music. It’s all happening at Ravinia, a picturesque outdoor venue in Highland Park, Ill.
Sunny Anderson, Anne Burrell, Jose Garces, Alex Guarnaschelli, Jeff Mauro, Marc Murphy and Geoffrey Zakarian will all be at Food Network in Concert. For a chance to win a pair of tickets (travel is not included), comment below and tell FN Dish which dish you hope one of these Food Network chefs will make for the event. Or head over to the official website to get your tickets before they sell out. The event will benefit Share Our Strength and their No Kid Hungry campaign — dedicated to ending childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need every day.

Whether you’re celebrating a milestone birthday, you’re recovering from a stressful week or you simply have a sweet tooth that won’t quit, cake-baking is nearly always a good idea, as the finished product delivers tried-and-true comfort every time. Double-layer frosted confections may be a party favorite, but the beauty of cakes is that they can take countless shapes and sizes. On today’s all-new episode of The Kitchen, Martha Stewart dropped by to introduce one of her latest publications, Martha Stewart’s Cakes: Our First-Ever Book of Bundts, Loaves, Layers, Coffee Cakes, and More, which is dedicated to both classic and creative desserts.
The co-hosts inducted Martha into Cookbook Club, and together she and Jeff Mauro created an updated version of the traditional icebox cake. Her Chocolate Chip Cookie Icebox Cake is an easy yet impressive dessert, boasting layer after layer of decadent chocolate cookies and sweet, fluffy cream. After chilling overnight in the refrigerator, the cookies will have absorbed moisture from the cream and become deliciously tender, so the cake will hold its shape when cut into slices.
Want to check out more of Martha Stewart’s Cakes? You can buy the book here, or you can enter to win a free signed copy from FN Dish. We’re giving away one cookbook each to four lucky, randomly selected fans. To enter, tell us in the comments which recipe from The Kitchen has been your favorite this season (you can find a complete list of recipes from The Kitchen here). You must include the recipe URL to be entered to win.

While some authors may pride themselves on publishing cookbooks filled with intricate multistep recipes and lavishly elegant meal ideas for special occasions, Haylie Duff is no such writer, releasing a brand-new work, The Real Girl’s Kitchen, that cooks of every caliber can conquer with ease.
She stopped by The Kitchen this morning to introduce this recent release — based on her blog of the same name — and chat with the co-hosts about some of her favorite go-to dishes that are every bit as easy to prepare as they are deliciously satisfying. Together with Sunny Anderson, Haylie prepped two savory bites, Bacon-Wrapped Dates and Mushroom and Herb Crostini, which take the hassle out of entertaining, thanks to fuss-free preparation.
You can buy a copy of Haylie’s cookbook here, or you can enter to win one for free from FN Dish. We’re giving five lucky, randomly selected readers each a copy of The Real Girl’s Kitchen, and all you have to do to enter to win one is leave a comment below telling us your favorite recipe featured on The Kitchen so far this season (find them all here). You must include the recipe URL in your comment to be entered to win.

Geoffrey, Jeff, Katie, Marcela and Sunny are all about empowering home cooks on The Kitchen and giving them the tools they need to create deliciously simple meals in a flash. Week after week the co-hosts share their tried-and-true suggestions for turning out fuss-free dishes, and they welcome friends to the set who share similar beliefs in easy cooking.
Just this morning, Cooking Channel host and Food Network star Kelsey Nixon dropped by The Kitchen to introduce her cookbook, Kitchen Confidence: Essential Recipes & Tips That Will Help You Cook Anything, a celebration of sweet and savory classics that will make even novice cooks feel comfortable. Inspired by her belief in mastering a few basic skills in order to learn and grow in the kitchen, Kelsey’s premiere work is full of must-haves that would be welcome additions to any recipe repertoire.
