Jet TilaAs a judge on Cutthroat Kitchen, Jet Tila offers his spot-on critiques of chefs’ sabotaged dishes, but he doesn’t just dish out feedback — when it’s his turn in the kitchen, he also dishes up plenty of food of his own. This Los Angeles-based chef and restaurateur is known for his Asian-inspired cooking and his culinary expertise, which he’s offering up to fans near and far in his just-released cookbook, 101 Asian Dishes You Need to Cook Before You Die: Discover a New World of Flavors in Authentic Recipes.

We caught up with Jet about this new book when he visited Food Network Kitchen for a Facebook Live demo of what he calls My Famous Drunken Noodles (click here to watch the demo and get the recipe), and he told us, “I believe that everyone in America can cook authentic Asian food.” Indeed this easy-to-follow cookbook breaks down the ins and outs of Asian cooking, and it’s chock-full of dishes you likely know and love but probably haven’t ventured to make at home, like tom yum soup, pad thai and drunken noodles. Just last week Chris published Share: Delicious and Surprising Recipes to Pass Around Your Table, which features more than 100 can-do recipes for anytime entertaining (check out a few of them right here). The concept focuses on share-able dishes, of course, and as Chris told us: “The book was inspired by my love for communal eating. It’s how we serve food in our restaurants and how I serve food in my own home.” We caught up with him to learn more about his vision for Share as well as his advice for easy, enjoyable hosting. Enter to Win a Copy of Alice Waters’ New Book, Fanny in France

It was just yesterday that we introduced you to Alice Waters’ latest publication — Fanny in France: Travel Adventures of a Chef’s Daughter, with Recipes — a part storybook, part cookbook that’s largely geared toward children. Waters, who has long been credited with establishing the farm-to-table effort at her beloved California eatery Chez Panisse, chatted with us and dished about all things French cuisine and cooking for children, including her memories of cooking with and for her own daughter, Fanny, the titular character in her book. From cover to cover, Fanny in France not only details Fanny’s explorations of a new world as she took in the best sights and tastes in France, but also provides more than 40 authentic French recipes.

“I wanted things that were very, very simple to make,” Waters said of the recipes included in the book. “I wanted to have the feeling that French cooking, at least what I experienced in the South of France, is very, very straightforward and simply dependent on the goodness of the ingredients, the ripeness and the aliveness of the foodstuffs.” You can find the recipe for her Croque-Monsieur (Grilled Cheese Sandwich), a French take on the ham-and-cheese mash-up we know and love, in our interview with Waters here, but to get all of the recipes from Fanny in France — for dishes such as Pommes Frites (Crispy Pan-Fried Potatoes) and Chocolate Soufflé — you’ll have to order a copy for yourself.
