Enter to Win a Copy of Chris Santos’ New Cookbook Share

by in Contests, Food Network Chef, February 15th, 2017

ChoppedYou know Chris Santos as a no-nonsense judge on Chopped, capable of lauding chefs’ stellar use of flavors and flagging their missteps all at once. But when he’s through with tastings at the judges’ table, he’s likely in the kitchen at one of his hot-spot restaurants, including such New York City institutions as The Stanton Social and Beauty & Essex. He’s known for bringing bold flavors and innovative dining concepts to hordes of visitors at his eateries, thanks to his craveable takes on dressed-up comfort foods and his penchant for striking presentations. Now, though, Chris is going beyond the restaurant scene and delivering some of his most-beloved dishes to his fans near and far with his first-ever cookbook.

Just last week Chris published Share: Delicious and Surprising Recipes to Pass Around Your Table, which features more than 100 can-do recipes for anytime entertaining (check out a few of them right here). The concept focuses on share-able dishes, of course, and as Chris told us: “The book was inspired by my love for communal eating. It’s how we serve food in our restaurants and how I serve food in my own home.” We caught up with him to learn more about his vision for Share as well as his advice for easy, enjoyable hosting. Read on below to hear more from Chris, then at the bottom find out how to be entered to win a copy of Share for free from FN Dish.

BBQ and Burger Showdowns
We challenged two prestigious groups — Chopped judges and Food Network Star winners — to a summer recipe showdown. All season long, we’ll present head-to-head matchups of mouthwatering summer recipes from each team — from refreshing cocktails to fresh farmers’-market salads to the juiciest backyard burgers. By voting each week here on FN Dish or on our Fan Feed, you’ll determine the winning recipes.

This week, Star winners and Chopped judges are going up against their own cohorts in two meaty showdowns. Star Season 7 winner Jeff Mauro faces his predecessor, Season 6 winner Aarti Sequeira, in a battle of pulled pork sandwiches. Chris Santos and Scott Conant often judge together behind the Chopping Block, but today they put up their best summer burgers for you to judge. Whose pulled pork and burgers will you cook up? Chopped Judges Dish Out Comfort Food at New York City Wine & Food Festival

by in Events, Food Network Chef, October 12th, 2012

Amanda FreitagOn a cool, crisp Thursday night in New York City, there was no better place to be than tucked inside Chef Marc Murphy’s swanky Midtown Manhattan restaurant, Landmarc, surrounded by the entire judges’ panel of Food Network’s Chopped. Yesterday together with Chef Murphy, Chefs Ted Allen, Amanda Freitag, Geoffrey Zakarian, Aarón Sanchez, Alex Guarnaschelli, Maneet Chauhan, Scott Conant, Marcus Samuelsson and Chris Santos kicked off the first night of the New York City Wine & Food Festival with a late-night party to celebrate the show with more than 100 hungry guests.

Each chef cooked up a signature creation, and while their plates ranged from savory snacks and beefy main dishes to sweet dessert treats, they were all reinvented, dressed-up versions of classic comfort food, like pasta, sliders, ice cream sandwiches and more.

Chef Freitag, pictured above, was dishing out an oversized batch of Truffled Orzo With Broccolini and Parmigianino Reggiano. This creamy, cheesy risotto-like pasta was pure comfort in a bowl.
