BLT Burgers with Bacon Mayonnaise — Most Popular Pin of the Week

by in Community, March 27th, 2016

BLT Burgers with Bacon Mayonnaise

Grilling season is so close we can almost taste it. But until the weather warms up for good, it’s all about indoor grilling — and this week’s Most Popular Pin of the Week, which stars a juicy burger made right on the stove. Think of this 5-star recipe, featured in Food Network Magazine, as the BLT you never knew you’d been missing. It boasts the classic trio of fixings you know and love, but there are two kinds of bacon: one version candied with brown sugar and a pinch of cayenne pepper, plus another turned into a creamy mayonnaise with fresh chives. Break out the stovetop grill pan (or a cast-iron skillet) to char the simply seasoned beef patties, then blanket them with cheddar and serve them on mayo-smeared bread with lettuce, tomato and that sweet-savory bacon.

Burger Bash 2016 Winners: Morimoto and Jersey Dawg (and Rachael Ray)

by in Events, News, February 26th, 2016

2016 South Beach Wine & Food FestivalWith a sandy seaside backdrop, dozens of roaring grills, and tables outfitted with ketchup and mustard, the scene was set for a Burger Bash tonight at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, which is celebrating its 15th birthday in Miami all weekend long with the likes of Bobby Flay, Giada De Laurentiis, Guy Fieri and Alex Guarnaschelli. As burger lovers packed the expansive tents and got their hands on the between-the-bun creations before them, FN Dish was on hand to take in the sights, smoky smells and, of course, all the beefy, meaty tastes that only this fan-favorite Bash could provide.

Rachael Ray was once again on hand to host the sold-out tasting, and this year proved especially significant, as it marked the 10th anniversary of Burger Bash. In celebration of this landmark milestone, the Festival team wowed Rachael on stage with not only her own Bash award but also an oversize burger cake made by none other than cake-baker extraordinaire Buddy Valastro. FN Dish was on hand tonight and we caught up with Rachael to dish about the longtime success of the event. “I think that the Burger Bash is a fun idea because we challenge the world’s greatest chefs to put their talents on a, well, on a hug — on a bun,” she told us. “And it makes food more accessible and presents the chefs in a whole different light.”

Perfect Veggie Burgers — Meatless Monday

by in Recipes, February 13th, 2012

Getting its considerable heft from chopped walnuts, pinto beans, barley and breadcrumbs, this veggie-packed patty is tender and moist, thanks to a splash of soy sauce, egg whites and tangy barbecue sauce. For a touch of crunch and fried indulgence, top each burger with a few crispy onion rings.

To complete this diner dinner, cook up Bobby’s Seasoned Grilled Fries, dusted with chili powder and cumin, and prepare his creamy, frothy Double Chocolate-Marshmallow Milkshake, ready in just 10 minutes.

Recipe of the Day: Bobby’s Mushroom-Cheddar Burger

by in Recipes, June 28th, 2011

Bobby Flay just may be the king of burgers — his toppings are always top-notch, and this burger is no exception. One bite into this burger and you’ll experience bold flavors from an assortment of mushrooms, shallots, sharp cheddar and juicy meat that comes from a ground chuck patty.

Bobby recommends using a blend of mushrooms from your market. “They’re probably not ‘wild,’ but they’ll still be delicious. I think that any cheddar will pair well with the mushrooms, but if you can find a sharp Tillamook cheddar from Oregon, it would be all the better,” Bobby says.

Make it a complete meal: Serve these Spicy Sweet Potato Fries or this Bell Pepper Slaw along side.

Burger Time with the Programming Team

by in View All Posts, December 31st, 2008

I’m sure it’s the same in offices across the country, but this week in the Food Network Programming department, you can quietly work and watch the tumbleweeds roll by. Holiday gift giving is over, everyone is on vacation, and only the few of us who are truly – truly – dedicated are holding down the fort, here at the Chelsea Market.

So how do the professionally food obsessed spend a quiet holiday week? Burgers! There are food perks at FN, food perks being in the Chelsea Market, and then there are food perks just being in this neighborhood.

In that spirit, here’s a quick tour of the burger offerings in our lovely hood that will make any carnivore happy. Note: it doesn’t hurt that we border the Meatpacking District.

Across the street is the legendary Old Homestead Steakhouse with the famous cow above the door. Next door to O.H.S. is Pop Burger, when you only need a small slider. One block down is The Diner, a rather more upscale version of it’s name. A few blocks away is Cafeteria, Tyler Florence‘s old haunt, and in the other direction there’s Corner Bistro, a truly old school tavern. Also in walking distance is the now mega-famous Spotted Pig, gastropub to the stars. You can find nearly any kind of food in the world in Chelsea, but it’s clearly a burger kind of town. You may not want to hit all of them in the same week though…
