Enter for a Chance to Win the Dipr

by in Contests, August 23rd, 2012

the dipr
Cookies and milk are one of the most classic combinations out there. One of the biggest problems facing milk-and-cookie lovers, however, is the milky mess the dunking experience can sometimes become. You lose the cookie, you dip your dirty hands in the milk, your fingers get sticky — the list of problems goes on. Enter the Dipr: a new kind of spoon that will cradle your cookie when dunked in milk and prevent it from dropping or getting crumbly. You can even eat the cookie right off the spoon for a completely mess-free experience.

You can buy your own Dipr here, or enter in the comment field below for a chance to win one. To enter: Tell us about your favorite Food Network cookie recipe to dunk in milk in the comments (you must include the link to a recipe). Enter for a Chance to Win an Autographed Copy of Ten Dollar Dinners

by in Books, Contests, August 14th, 2012

melissa d'arabian ten dollar dinners cookbookMelissa d’Arabian can now add another title to her long list of accomplishments: cookbook author. Her first cookbook, Ten Dollar Dinners, is officially available today and it’s packed with fresh meals — more specifically, 140 mouthwatering recipes, like Caprese Tartlets, Slow-Cooker Tortilla Soup, Grilled Two-Cheese Burgers and a Classic Apple Tart, for any night of the week.

She also includes tips to save you time and money like using leftover wine (see photo below, too). According to Melissa, “If you have a little leftover wine in a bottle, fill an ice cube tray half-full with wine and then freeze (don’t fill it all the way, it won’t freeze). The next time you need to deglaze a pan or make a quick pan sauce, toss in a few cubes for an extra layer of flavor that didn’t cost you an extra dime.”

You can order a copy right now, but we’d like to give you a chance to win one that Melissa has autographed. All you have to do is comment on this post by telling us which one of Melissa d’Arabian’s recipes is your favorite and why. We’re giving away five signed copies of her cookbook to randomly selected and very lucky commenters.

Vote Now for America’s Favorite Farmers’ Markets

by in Contests, July 6th, 2012

america's favorite famers markets
For many of us, the start of summer means a visit to our local farmers’ market for some of the best produce we’ll have all year. Do you have a favorite market? Earlier last week, American Farmland Trust asked local markets to sign up to participate in a contest that could ultimately name them one of “America’s Favorite Farmers’ Markets.” The summer-long competition aims to see which farmers’ markets can generate the most votes from their customers. The goal of the contest is to promote the role that farmers’ markets play in keeping family farmers on the land.

American Farmland Trust holds this annual contest to raise national awareness about the importance of buying fresh food from local farms. “Farmers’ markets offer a great way for consumers to support local farms and farmers,” said American Farmland Trust President Jon Scholl in a recent press release. “In addition to providing access to fresh, seasonal foods, farmers’ markets help strengthen our ties to the land where our food is grown and the people who grow it.”
