Sara Levine is an editor at FoodNetwork.com and a culinary-school-trained home cook. She covers many of the network’s most popular shows (Food Network Star, The Next Iron Chef, Chopped, among others) for the website – a great gig for someone hopelessly addicted to reality television. A few years ago Sara quit her magazine job to go to Le Cordon Bleu, which led to a stint in the Food Network Kitchens. Although cooking professionally wasn’t her thing, she adores writing about the people who excel at it and putting her own amateur culinary skills to work in her tiny New York City kitchen.

Poll: Who Went Home Too Soon? by in Uncategorized, May 31st, 2012

No Star hopeful wants to make an early exit from the competition, but unfortunately, someone always has to be the first, second or third to go. Cristie Schoen, Kara Sigle and Josh Lyons — eliminated in episodes one, two and three, respectively — didn’t have many opportunities to show Bob and Susie their best stuff. [...]

Restaurant Revisited: Pollard’s by in Shows, May 30th, 2012

The eatery was experiencing growing pains after upgrading from a takeout operation to a giant dine-in establishment. We checked in with owners Tarrance and Torria Pollard to see howRead more »

Team Giada: Down to Four by in Uncategorized, May 29th, 2012

Team Giada held strong in the first two episodes. Week one, Josh Lyons made it successfully through the pitch room, and then the team took home a win in week two’s food tour challenge. Giada still had all five of her finalists going into week three — but not for long. After ending up in [...]

This Sunday’s new episode of Star is an intense one. Just when they’re getting comfy in their teams, the finalists must compete against their own teammates in Chopped-style dessert battles. When the wacky mystery baskets are revealed, the finalists aren’t the only ones who are stressed — their mentors are competitive, too! But no matter [...]

Star Poll: Pick Your Dish by in Uncategorized, May 24th, 2012

For the bus tour challenge, Team Giada ended up right in their mentor’s comfort zone: Arthur Avenue, the Bronx’s answer to Little Italy. Maybe this added a little pressure — as Team Giada, they couldn’t mess up Italian food! They stepped it up, made some tasty food and won the challenge. Three dishes really stood [...]

Team Bobby’s First Farewell by in Uncategorized, May 22nd, 2012

Team Bobby was riding high after taking home the first win of the season, only to come crashing back to reality in Episode Two. On their food tour of Harlem, caterer and fitness guru Kara Sigle hoped a strong presentation would distract from her lifeless chicken and waffles. Unfortunately, she stumbled, lost focus and completely [...]

Caption It: Stay Out of Trouble by in Uncategorized, May 18th, 2012

Oh, Josh. In Episode One, this rock star/sushi chef was Team Giada’s problem child. First, he somersaulted onto the stage to get Bob and Susie’s attention — and it worked, but not in a good way. Then he ended up in the bottom two. With the help of “guardian angel” Giada, he made it safely [...]
