Do you spy what I spy?

by in View All Posts, March 24th, 2009

I must confess: I took a vacation this weekend, and still thought about work. You see, I went down to Austin, Texas for a friend’s wedding, and while perusing through a neat art gallery there called Yard Dog Art, I happened to do a double take on these interesting pieces for sale by former Austinite, Mike Miller.

When we shot the Food Network Tour video, I remember noticing this same art from Sunny Anderson’s Cooking for Real set, and here they were again creeping up in my vacation (perhaps to remind me to get back to the office?). Can you spy the art I’m talking about behind Sunny? I’ll give you a clue: It’s right above the big, red arrow I pasted on the image:

When I first looked at these pieces on Sunny’s set, I even remember saying to myself, “Oh that art is neat,” but I had no idea the history behind the pieces….until now!

Continue reading about Sunny’s set art.

Congrats to Cat!

Just last week Secretary Confidential mentioned the baby boom happening in the Food Network offices…and then THIS week, our own Iron Chef Cat Cora announced that both her partner, Jennifer Cora, and she are expecting as well! Cat shares that they’ll be adding two more boys to their exisiting fam — that’s right their two sons, Zoran and Caje, will be big brothers to more brothers. You can check out Cat’s Myspace Blog for more deets.

Congrats, Cat and Jennifer!

What’s Shooting Now – REVEALED

by in View All Posts, March 3rd, 2009

REVEAL UPDATE:
I thought I could trick you guys with this addition of “What’s Shooting Now“, but surprisingly, a lot of you hit it right on the nose! The correct answer is…

To give you an idea of where they might be using these delicious (fake) oranges…. remember the APPLE interview room from last season? Well, replace “APPLES” with “ORANGES,” and you now have the interview room design for this next season of Next Food Network Star!

What’s Shooting Now?

by in View All Posts, March 2nd, 2009

Today we have another installment of your favorite new FN Dish game…… “What’s Shooting Now?”

Here’s how it works: I give you a collection of image clues, and after examining the evidence, you make an educated guess at to what show is shooting in the Food Network studios at this very moment. Tomorrow, I’ll let the official cat out of the bag for the big reveal.

CLUE COLLECTION:

Alright FN Dishers! Post in the comments your best guess as to what show is being set up above!

Food Network Action Figures? UPDATE!

by in View All Posts, February 25th, 2009

Looks like Food Network Chefs are getting into all the action these days….or rather, becoming all the action. A fellow Food Network cohort just sent me a link to Mario Batali’s new action figure. It even has mini crocs! With Ace of Cake’s Duff Goldman releasing his own Duff minimate last year, I’m beginning to think this might be a trend!

Any bets on what chef will be next to dive into the toy realm? Any wishes? Personally I loved to see a Paula Deen doll, fully equipped with a butter stocked fridge and a mini fryer.

UPDATE:
Damon in the comments inspired me to do some googling for an Alton Brown toy, because surely someone has to be making an Alton Action figure with all of his little gadgets. Although I didn’t find an Alton Brown toy for purchase, I did come across the cutest crocheted Alton on Flickr. Check out the mini okra and motorcycle to boot! Big thanks to Concetta Phillipps for letting us re-post her art work on FN Dish!

Christmas_Decorations

‘Tis the season to put away your Christmas decorations. However, a select group of Food network employees are either gearing up for the 2009 holiday season, or they just can’t seem to part with the Christmas spirit of ’08. Honestly, I think it’s charming that (inadvertently or not) these guys have chosen to keep the festivities going year-round here at the Food Network offices. Come to think of it….why does society tell us that we’re allowed to eat Christmas cookies only around the holidays?… Eureka!
