What to Watch Tonight: Finale of Chef Wanted and Premiere of Giving You the Business

Chef Wanted Nikki BeachChef Wanted comes to a jet-setting finish on tonight’s episode at a special time of 9pm/8c. Watch as Anne Burrell brings in four candidates who are fighting for a chance to get the executive chef position at the new Ibiza location of upscale restaurant Nikki Beach. The chefs will be put through two rigorous cooking tests at the restaurant’s Miami Beach location. The two remaining finalists will each get a chance to prove themselves to the owners in a dinner service, but only one will be offered the new position.

Right afterward at 10pm/9c, watch the premiere of Food Network’s new series Giving You the Business, hosted by NBA star Walter Bond. On this episode, four unsuspecting employees of restaurant franchise Famous Famiglia Pizzeria will be secretly tested in a series of outrageous challenges designed to gauge their skills at running a business. With hidden cameras capturing every move, the strongest candidate will walk away with the keys to the franchise.

Chopped Mystery Basket Weirdest Ingredient Bracket Tournament — Vote in Round 3

Chopped Bracket Round 3Some of the mystery basket ingredients that get used on Chopped are pretty unusual, to say the least. But the culinary producers who come up with them don’t just draw them out of a hat — though sometimes it does seem that way! They take their time to decide on the ingredients, making sure the basket components are just right and actually manageable. FN Dish queried the culinary producers to find out the top 16 weirdest basket ingredients they’ve had on the show. The list of ingredients ranged from goat brains to gummy eggs over easy — almost no ingredient is off-limits.

Now it’s up to you, Chopped fans, to vote on the ingredient you think is the weirdest of them all in this four-round bracket tournament, which coincides with the new season of Chopped All-Stars.

What to Watch: Easy Entertaining, Recipe Inspirations and Chopped Judges Competing on All-Stars

If you’re planning on entertaining soon or are looking for new recipe inspiration, Food Network has you covered with a lot of ideas this weekend. Not only that, but if you’re a fan of Chopped, you’ll want to tune into Chopped All-Stars where the tables have turned on four judges (watch a preview above), who are competing for the title of champion and $50,000 for charity.

On Saturday morning, Paula and entertaining guru James Farmer show you some easy and delicious entertaining recipes. Then Ree is cooking up a Mexican-inspired menu for a gathering of her investment club. Later, Giada is taking inspiration from the Venices of Italy and California to come up with her light and refreshing menu.

The cooking continues on Sunday morning as Guy is inspired to come up with recipes based on Chinese takeout items. Later in the morning, Jeff and his son, Lorenzo, learn how graham crackers and marshmallows are made, which leads Jeff to come up with an entire menu of sweet sandwiches.

In the evening it’s competition time beginning with Cupcake Wars, where the bakers are competing for a chance to serve at the People’s Choice Awards. Then on Chopped All-Stars, four judges compete against one another and are judged by their own peers. On Restaurant: Impossible, Robert helps a couple loosen control over their restaurant so they can let the next generation take the reins.

Chef Wanted: Victor’s Cafe Update

Chef Wanted Family-run Cuban restaurant Victor’s Cafe, in the heart of New York City’s theater district, has been around for 50 years and has never had an executive chef. Then the owners decided to change that. Sonia Zaldivar and her daughter Monica were looking for a chef who could put a fresh spin on the cuisine and advance the restaurant’s menu. Anne Burrell and the Chef Wanted team were brought in to help with the search. After two grueling tests and dinner services, an offer was extended to Chef Ted Torres.

Originally from New York, Ted grew up in the South Bronx and saw his share of hard times. But after moving to Philadelphia, he found his calling, enrolled in culinary school and became the chef he is today. It has been a dream of his to go back to New York and show everyone what he’s made of himself.

What to Watch: Laila Ali Cooks With Paula, Jeff’s Italian Sandwiches and Lance Bass Judges on Cupcake Wars

Lance Bass on Cupcake WarsThis weekend there is a bunch of new episodes on Food Network that are sure to give you some great entertaining ideas and glue you to your seat with exciting action.

On Saturday, watch all-new episodes from Paula, Ree and Giada. First, boxer Laila Ali joins Paula in the kitchen to make some hearty favorites. Then Ree is cooking fun finger foods for a cousin sleepover party at the lodge. Later, Giada is hosting a luncheon for a group of special ladies.

Start Sunday morning with Jeff and his Italian-inspired sandwiches. Follow it up with some competition in the evening, beginning with a “Fan Favorites” episode of Cupcake Wars judged by special guest Lance Bass. Afterward, it’s Round 2 of Chopped All-Stars, where mega-chefs battle it out in the kitchen for a chance at competing in the grand finale. And finally, on Restaurant: Impossible, Robert helps a couple save their seafood restaurant and, in turn, save their family.

Chef Wanted: Blaue Gans Update

Chef WantedBlaue Gans, German for “blue goose,” is a Wirtshaus-style restaurant in New York City serving modern Austro-German cuisine. It is one of five establishments owned by esteemed chef and published cookbook author Kurt Gutenbrunner. After promoting the restaurant’s current chef to oversee all operations, Kurt needed a new chef for Blaue Gans, so he turned to Anne Burrell and the Chef Wanted team for help. Four candidates were brought in, and after two rigorous cooking tests and two dinner services, an offer was extended to Chef Carsten Vollrath.

Originally from Germany, Chef Vollrath has been living and working in the United States for the past 10 years. He has wanted to become a chef since the age of 17, and he’s always dreamed of coming to New York City. He thinks Blaue Gans will become his new home away from home.
