For this week’s Chopped Dinner Challenge, the chefs of Food Network Kitchens chose to feature the basket ingredient refrigerator biscuits, which most people would think couldn’t be reinvented. But, in fact, they can! With their Chopped thinking caps on, the chefs turned the average canned dough into sauteed puffs that resemble dumplings. All it takes is cubing up the dough and sauteing the cubes in butter. And to make it a great dinner, the biscuit puffs become the perfect side dish for Pork Tenderloin. Your family will be excited to see how canned biscuit dough gets a new life in this recipe.

Announcing the Chopped Teen ChampionOn a special episode of Chopped, four teenaged chefs entered the competition to prove that age doesn’t matter when it comes to culinary talent. On the line was a $40,000 scholarship to The International Culinary Schools at The Art Institutes. Not to mention bragging rights to call oneself a Chopped Champion. Now that’s pretty cool for a kid still in school! The competitors ranged in age from 13 to 16, but it didn’t matter that they lacked the years of experience, because they made up for it in energy, ambition and a determination to win. On this week’s special holiday episode of Chopped, the celebrity competitors found rosca de reyes (three kings cake), Wagyu rib-eye steaks, broccoli and cocktail sauce in their mystery baskets. Unfortunately not all of them did the best job of incorporating the cocktail sauce into their dishes. But for this Chopped Dinner Challenge, the cocktail sauce gets its starring role, serving as a barbecue sauce for chicken. This recipe for Grilled Chicken Legs with Cocktail Barbeque Sauce is a great excuse to do some grilling in winter, whether it’s in the comfort of the kitchen or outdoors, weather permitting. It’s also a great use for cocktail sauce leftover from a holiday party. Your family will appreciate a taste of summer in the middle of the cold winter with this meal for dinner.
