Lady Gaga and Starbucks Spread Kindness Cup by Cup

Lady Gaga and Starbucks Spread Kindness Cup by CupLady Gaga and Starbucks have embarked on a new romance that seems more good than bad. The pop star and the coffee purveyor have teamed up to spread kindness cup by cup.

Until June 19, every time you buy a beverage in Starbucks’ Cups of Kindness collection — four vividly hued iced drinks selected by the Mother Monster herself — at a participating United States or Canadian location, the chain will donate 25 cents to support the initiatives of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation, which aims to empower young people, enhance mental wellness and create a kinder world.

“We’re healthier and happier when we live our lives with compassion and our communities are stronger when we treat one another with generosity and respect,” Lady Gaga said in a statement announcing the partnership. “Born This Way Foundation and I are so excited to partner with Starbucks to help inspire positivity and love through the Cups of Kindness collection.”

The iced drinks in the collection — all touted as low-calorie — include Matcha Lemonade (a green tea and lemonade mashup that is Gaga’s favorite) and Violet Drink (combining blackberries, hibiscus and coconut milk), both new, as well as Ombre Pink Drink (a “light, fruity” beverage that includes tea, lime and coconut milk) and the U.S.-only Pink Drink (strawberry, passion fruit, acai and coconut milk).

There are probably a million reasons why this is a great idea. Or at least 250,000 of them. Starbucks has pledged to contribute a minimum of $250,000 to the Born This Way Foundation’s worthy efforts. Who among us won’t drink to that?
