Some people are really into makeup. Some (maybe all?) are really into cakes. And a substantial number of people, it turns out, are really into makeup cakes.

What’s a makeup cake, you ask? Why, a cake that is decorated to look like it’s covered with colorful lipsticks, eye shadows, blushes, brushes, compacts and even bottles of nail polish — often artfully crafted using fondant. Instagram and Pinterest are rife with examples.

Mashable has called makeup cakes a “glam new dessert trend.” Refinery29 dubs them “delicious”-looking. PopSugar warns that looking at them may “inspire a shopping spree (or a cake-eating binge!).”

And make no mistake, although some makeup cakes are somewhat generic, there is a lot of makeup brand loyalty on display on these cakes. You’ll find edible tributes to Mac (many, many, many, many, many, many, many of them), Chanel (again, no shortage), both Mac and Chanel, Giordani Gold, and even the makeup store brand Sephora.
