I choose candies for ages of kids. Some for very young children and popular for older kids. We used to get a lot of Bit o Honey and as a kid I hated it. I often make homemade treats for children with their parents who know me and ask parents permission first. Label them with free return address labels I keep receiving. Favorite candy sinkers bar or Godiva Lions of Belgium.

We do not pass out candy, because we have SO few trick-or-treaters. The first year of living in our downtown neighborhood in Denver we only had 15 kids. We had two big bags of candy left over. Now, we pass out glow sticks and any that are left over are passed out the next year since they don't go bad. The kids LOVE them. After three years of doing this we have kids who return to the "glow stick house." It's great!
