Top Dogs and Underdogs — Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off
Todd Plitt
On last's night's Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off, the celebrities got to set up their own hot dog carts at Luna Park, right on the Coney Island Boardwalk. The challenge was more fun than anything else, but time constraints did have everyone hustling to make enough to serve hoards of customers. Tiffany, though, was the lucky winner of the Round 1 french fry cook-off, earning 10 extra minutes to cook her Jamaican-inspired hot dog. In the end, only one celebrity won MVP this time (immunity was off the table), and one went home.
Guest judge Amanda Freitag declared Team Rachael the winner of the challenge and chose Florence's deli-style hot dog as the top dog. That meant someone from Team Guy would be going home, cutting down the three celebrities to two for an evenly matched finale. In the end Ice's tofu dog just didn't cut it for Amanda. She thought his execution could have been better and that the flavor just wasn't there.
As the only vegetarian, Ice started out as the underdog because he had to make the dogs from scratch using tofu and wonton wrappers. At first it appeared he'd strike again since last week he showed that tofu could face-off alongside meat when he created his tofu lollipops for the chicken wing challenge. Guy even joked: "I have eaten more tofu with you than I have eaten in years." But in the end Ice's veggie dawg might just have met its match in this hot dog challenge. Still, he left feeling he had accomplished a lot on the show and said, "I'm extremely proud I made it this far, especially as a vegetarian."
Do you think Ice deserved to go home for his tofu dog? Or would you have sent someone else home? Vote for who you think made the best dog below.
