Two Times the Trouble — Alton’s After-Show

Cutthroat Kitchen fans knows that when competitors are gifted a sabotage, no matter how treacherous or simple it may seem, it could ultimately mean disaster for them if they don’t know how or do not have the time to remedy it. But what happens when a challenge must incorporate not just one sabotage, but multiple? Will they use the double dose of damage to further fuel their creative energy, or will they succumb to the pressure of the contest and crumble?

On this week’s installment of Alton’s After-Show, the host revealed to judge Jet Tila two competitors’ attempts to adapt to multiple challenges after finding themselves victim to an onslaught of sabotages. The first set occurred in the initial round’s sandwich-and-side battle, when a chef was forced to harvest bread from prepared convenience-store sandwiches before learning that he or she would also have to make the dish on a TV-dinner-size tray instead of an oversized workspace. “And I think from there [the contestant] went insane,” Alton joked of the competitor. This chef was ultimately overwhelmed by the tasks at hand, as he or she didn’t make it past the first round of competition.

Jet and Alton also chat about another chef who’s left to build a fire in a miniature grill after being forced to scour the contents of a piñata to find the chocolate that would eventually be featured in s’mores. While the piñata sabotage wasn’t seen on television, fans can watch it here to find out what happened. (Because of time, it was cut from the episode, as it ultimately did not impact the results of the round.)

    After watching the After-Show we realized the show edited out an entire sabotage from the third round. We even went back to the recording to be sure and you could see the pinata, shown in the after-show, lying on the floor…….Why would you do that?

    Did I miss them showing the pinata on the live show? I swear I didn't see that.

    It also seems they edited out a third sabotage. Chef Rocco used thin metal utensils at the end of his cooking time to grab the s'mores out of the oil and mix the ice cream. Why would they edit the key point of the show?

    That pinata was one of the best sabatoges they've ever done and they cut it?!?!?!?

    I wish they had a section for this show where they talk about the chefs. I know that Tiffany (was that her name?) was on one of the Top Chef shows on Bravo, but they didn't mention that when they introduced her. Or if they did, I missed it.

      that's what I thought too and I didn't here it mentioned either I knew it had to be her as I remember here voice but wasn't sure of her last name as she was getting married after Top Chef

      Tiffany was on both season 7—DC— season 8—All Stars—of Top Chef and did pretty well on both.

      They wouldn't mention Top Chef – it's competition for whichever Food Network show it's airing opposite on a competing network. They don't want to give it any publicity. There have been a lot of Top Chef contestants on FN shows recently, and they've never made reference to it.

        The have referred to Lee Anne, Spike, and Marcel as top chefs, but strictly in generic lower case. There was also a Chopped contestant who worked at Colicchio & Sons, but the references to Tom were very generic, saying that the contestant worked for a "major chef" without naming him.
