The daughter of a respected cookbook editor and a Chinese cooking enthusiast, Alex developed a passion for food at a young age, sealing her professional fate. In her premiere cookbook, Old-School Comfort Foodshe shares her journey from waist-high taste tester to trained chef, along with the 100 recipes for how she learned to cook — and the way she still loves to eat.

    Seared hanger steak! Sooo delicious!! I am a huge fan…ate at Butter…it was seriously one of the best meals I've ever had!

    I love every recipe of Alex's that I have tried, but if I had to pick one I would say her braised chicken with tomato recipe. (her Eggplant Parm is a really close second) The reason I chose this recipe is because it is so different and unexpected. I would never have thought to add a couple of cinnamon sticks to a braised chicken and tomato dish. The cinnamon flavor is very present, but not overwhelming. It just works. The chicken is so tender and delicious from all the flavors that are infused during the braising.       Christin, that grape cake IS to-die-for!!! I've made it twice and it never saw the end of the day. Everyone in the house loved it.
