Restaurant Revisited: Nanny Goat’s Cafe & Feed Bin by Maria Russo in Shows, February 20th, 2013
In one of his most dramatic missions to date, Robert Irvine arrived in Kilgore, Texas, to help Nancy Dupre, then owner of Nanny Goat’s Cafe & Feed Bin, transform her failing restaurant. But on day one of renovations she stormed out, vowing to end her Restaurant: Impossible experience before it even started. She became frustrated and simply overwhelmed when it was revealed that her daughter, Jessica, then cook at Nanny Goat’s, was the root of her business’s problems. Despite Nancy’s refusal, her mother, Sissy, and Jessica agreed that Robert and his team should continue their project, and the next day, a calmer, more composed Nancy returned to the site more committed to this mission than ever.
Although Robert and his team helped launch Nanny Goat’s into a new season of success with a crowd-pleasing menu and clean yet comfortable decor, Nancy decided to sell the restaurant for a profit, and has since entered retirement. Jessica no longer works at Nanny Goat’s Cafe, but much of the eatery’s other staff remains.
We checked in with Sharon Henley and Glenda Reid, the new owners of Nanny Goat’s, who took control of the restaurant in the new year, and they’re proud to say that their restaurant is “full of customers every day.” They’re pleased with its fresh, welcoming look and admit that they “work together like a well-oiled machine” with their employees.
Nanny Goat’s is currently not serving dinner, although they plan to start nighttime service at the end of February. Looking back on the past couple months, Sharon and Glenda say, “We are grateful for everyone’s support. We can’t succeed without them.”

Being from the area, I am aware that Nanny Gots once had very good food. At that time they had another cook who knew what they were doing. This changed when the daughter started cooking. After the show, they changed the new menu and brought back some of the old stuff and also brought in some of the old decor. Too bad, because the RI crew really did a great job.
Why do places do this?
Thanks for the info!
eeeeew. now i really hate to hear that!
Taniya freakin' rocked it this week. Complete genius!
The press board arches snapping just freaked me out. That trim board is the cheapest glued together sawdust you can buy at Home Depot. I fear they will 'pOp' one by one right at the arches and screw points.
HATED those hanging tables! Blech!
Climb the rope and food is FREE!
Ate there this week and they are gone.
People should sign a contract to operate the restaurant for at least 1 year after a makeover to discouragepeople like this from taking advantage of the show and staff. Also why doesn't the website show an update on Anna Maries and Snooty Fox??

I think you are right about the 1 year thing, this woman should have to cough up the 10 grand they spent on her profit venture, plus the cost of the staff that put this episode together, which runs about another $40,000+ criminal!
You should "take advantage" of a Clorox cocktail!
I hope that's fake. Or it needs to be taken down because that's low class if you troll them to that extent. And I don't even like them so ya that's my take.
And it has… Victory!! Thank you admins!! Still don't like you Nancy! :p
Victory ?…………
Since I have your attention. You shouldn't be posting personal information on people. Don't be a low class guy. Leave that to people like Nancy.
LMFAO!! Nope….. Just love'n the keyboard-Rambo's..
The arches painted black in the newly redecorated restaurant is a crying shame! They looked so nice after they were first installed
Why would they do that?!?!?
Sorry to disagree, but if the photos look as good as the real thing…the black color is a vast improvement from the pink-purple color that RI painted them before. I wish the new owners all the luck in the world and hope they will be able to keep Nanny Goat open for a long time.
I usually like and respect Tanya's designs and feel that she is the most artistic, creative, and knowledgable among Robert's decorating team. Tanya also works well with Robert and the construction team. That said, I disliked Tanya's concept for "Nanny's Goat" and thought the wood-slatted arches looked like roller-coaster tracks and gave the dining space an amusement park aura. Tanya uses purples/periwinkles frequently, and for the most part, the cool colors work well with the overall decor, but in this case, it was garish. I hoped that she would go into soft reds/oranges/yellows that would have looked better with the brick walls, and I think that there should have been fewer "railroad track" arches.
Totally agree Rich. They spent all their money wanted to make more and got burned. Don't worry. The show saved them once but people like that don't learn, they'll pay for it in the long run for sure.
This doesn't surprise me at all. She bought and sold how many versions of Nanny Goat before this one? This was just a means to an end. Beg for help to flip their restaurant that she clearly wanted to sell in the first place but COULDNT (she said so HERSELF!!) and the fame of getting the place on TV would easily suck in a number of buyers (and I'm sure her tantrum was just making it that much better – everyone loves drama!). She most certainly needs to be sued for the total cost of the renovation – including the hidden costs of the crew and filming! Though at the same time, one has to wonder how much of the whole thing was staged for a change of pace? Same with next week's episode. Oh well, whatever. Still worth watching regardless.
Pretty good episode with a disappointing result. Couldn't stand that woman and all the drama! I can't believe some of these people that run restaurants. A great business for the unemployable. Love HOT Tanya but really didn't like this week's new design. Looked like a park bench tunnel.
I wish Taniya would lose some of her baby-fat. She does look tan and rested in this episode though. Miles of white teeth too.
Love her personality and positive fun attitude! Being very attractive is icing on the cake. Looks like a ring on her finger… and she was supposed to wait for me!
How were they used? Nancy stated at the beginning of the episode that she flips restaurants as a profession. Many of these restaurants don't stay in business for more than a few months after RI visits them…it's just the nature of trying to turn around already-failing restaurants. Also, why all of the personal and hateful comments??
She did mention she felt she failed at this restaurant. Also, was willing to let her dau., go if it meant she was the reason for the failure. Did want or gave the impression on how to charge for food. I believe she lead RI to think she was going to run her restaurant but FN knew her plan. She was rude to the staff who go to work everyday and work hard. Ppl can't treat ppl like that and expect that will be tolerated.
I wish they would add bleach to the menu. Just for you!!!!
