What’s in Your Ultimate Chopped Basket?
by FN Dish Editor in Shows, January 21st, 2013
Three rounds, three different baskets and 12 out-of-this-world ingredients. Whether it’s Chopped Champions, All-Stars or regular-season episodes, that’s a lot of combinations to come up with.
So we’re asking this question: What would be included in your ultimate Chopped basket? Not something you’d want to receive, but something you’d give to a fellow competitor. Would there be two proteins? All sweets? Would you include one or two ingredients they’ve probably never heard of? It can be argued that the simplest ingredients like eggs, chicken, pasta and rice are sometimes the hardest.
Tell us what you’d choose in the comments below.

I just made a comment on one of the contestants but needed to add one more thing. On chopped if a contestant takes a "swig" of the liquor or any other liquid by the bottle they are chastised for doing it. I will agree until I watched an Iron Chef episode & the same chefs that criticized the contestant on chopped did the SAME thing on Iron Chef! What makes them any different?
I agree Debra. I saw the same thing. Unsanitary is unsanitary no matter who the cook is. Iron chef or sou chef.
I disagree with you both.
Iron Chefs are the Top Chefs in the World: Bobby Flay, Michael Symon , Murimoto, Cat Cora , Geoffrey Zakarian are among them. Not to forget Alex Guarneschelli, who just was made Iron Chef not too long ago and who defeated Judy Ju of Iron Chef U.K.
Julia Child tasted her food.
I loved the left over show, it's my reality. I'd like to see a breakfast/lunch/dinner show instead of the appetizer/entree/dessert motif. Here are my basket ideas:
breakfast: egg beaters, greek yogurt, oatmeal and cheerios
lunch: ground turkey, broccoli, clementines, kale
dinner: boneless, skinless chicken breasts, bag of salad greens, clementines (got to use the whole bag before they go bad) and cauliflower
Leah,
greek yogurt was already used.
Love to see snake an oeanutbutter with white wine
