What’s in Your Ultimate Chopped Basket?

by in Shows, January 21st, 2013

Chopped BasketThree rounds, three different baskets and 12 out-of-this-world ingredients. Whether it’s Chopped Champions, All-Stars or regular-season episodes, that’s a lot of combinations to come up with.

So we’re asking this question: What would be included in your ultimate Chopped basket? Not something you’d want to receive, but something you’d give to a fellow competitor. Would there be two proteins? All sweets? Would you include one or two ingredients they’ve probably never heard of? It can be argued that the simplest ingredients like eggs, chicken, pasta and rice are sometimes the hardest.

Tell us what you’d choose in the comments below.

For Valentines day, my dad and I are making my mom a basket that she has to make an appetizer with before the end of the weekend. In it is breadsticks, bloody mary mix, pomegranate, and immatation crab. After, I'm making dinner.. most likely pan seared chicken and broiled asparagus with olive oil and salt and pepper!

My mother and I would love to see a dish where the full basket is chicken, pudding (probably vanilla), pasta, and cereal.

I remember when I was growing up there were cans of canned hog brains sold in certain country stores. It sounds like a good ingredient for some challenging baskets. Maybe mix.this with some good old American moon pies, corn meal, and sauerkraut for the entree round.

The appetizer could be canned corned beef, dried prunes, apple sauce, and hamburger helper in a box.

Desert ideas could be canned tomatoes, pickled eggs, cream cheese, and pop tarts.

    Have fun

How about putting a can of Spam in the basket along with pickled pigs feet and kringle, a Danish pastry. This could be the appetizer round. For the main course how about blood sausage, kholrabi, ugli fruit and peanut butter. The dessert round could include wheat germ, onions, garlic bread and corn flakes. Yummy!
