Rachael and Guy
Rachael vs. GuyThis past Sunday the celebrities on Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off had to cook kid-friendly food for two kids’ birthday parties. Unfortunately, not all the dishes pleased the kids’ picky palates. Johnny and Carnie ended up in the bottom two and were given the challenge of making hot dogs for the blind tasting. The crumbled sausage sandwich that Johnny created sent him home because it wasn’t a true hot dog. But it was the hot dog that Carnie made that everyone raved about. Its toppings set it apart: bacon and cheese and a special sauce that Rachael couldn’t help eating on its own.

I voted for chili, but felt a need to comment. I know traditional chili for hot dogs does not have beans. I totally disagree with that choice. I much prefer beans in the chili that goes on top of my hot dog. While I love meat, the meat chili on top of the meat hot dog is just too much. The beans bring some balance to the dish.

I like tomatoes, jalepenos, onions and sour cream. Maybe cheese too.

Shawndale, sounds yummy. I think I may have to try that with an addition of a bit of seasoned beef, sounds like a new family meal "taco dogs" . Thanks for the great idea.

  5. Choco says:

    Mustard, kraut, pickle relish.

  6. Carrie says:

Homemade chili with beans and meat, then garnished with onion, dill relish and mustard.

  7. shannon says:

I love mustard & onions, usually. Occasionally I must have sauerkraut (no other condiments). If I am having bacon I must have cheese (that needs no other condiments). Now I am hungry for a hot dog!

  8. guest says:

Chili (no beans) and Cole Slaw, ketchup.
