Raise the Bar — The Next Iron Chef Caption It

by in Shows, December 21st, 2012

Donatella ArpaiaAfter eight weeks on the road to redemption, just one battle stands between the final three rivals, Chefs Nate Appleman, Amanda Freitag and Alex Guarnaschelli, and the culinary kingdom that is Kitchen Stadium. Of course the stakes have been high throughout the competition, as it’s the nature of the Redemption beast for chefs to be eliminated each week, but come Sunday, the rivals are put to the ultimate test in a last-supper challenge, one that will require them to bring their A games if they want to make their dreams of total redemption reality.

The judges’ panel on The Next Iron Chef has made known what they want to see from the chefs’ challenge offerings: elegant, sophisticated plating techniques, unparalleled creativity, expert use of the Secret Ingredient and, of course, ingenious flavor profiles. But looking at the sneak-peek image above from Sunday’s finale episode, it seems as though judge Donatella Arpaia is suggesting that these elements are not enough anymore — that in this all-important finale, the remaining rivals must raise the bar to new levels of Iron Chef-worthy greatness if they want to cook in Kitchen Stadium. Do you think Donatella is referring to one chef’s approach to challenges in particular? Which rival do you think is most in jeopardy of not earning a place among the final two?

Before you tune in this Sunday at 9pm/8c to find out who The Next Iron Chef is, we’re challenging you, Next Iron Chef fans, to write your best captions (tastefully appropriate, please) for this judging moment in the comments below.

There’s still time to support your favorite remaining rival chefs. Cast your Fan Vote up to 10 times per day.

    marcel is this tall

  2. Fannie says:

why doesn't Food Network care that Alton Brown is an assault weapon wacko. His pictures holding Afghanistan type assault weapons are on various gun nut websites on the internet and he is featured among celebrities who are assault weapon afficianados on others. He participates in chat with other gun nuts in their weirdo chatrooms. Guess the NRA can count on his support to solve the gun slaughter issue,

  3. Linda says:

I suspect that Alex is most at risk in the intital challenge. I believe Nate is the unlikeliest to win the title. That said, I would be happy to watch any of the three. I've enjoyed them in other settings and I think any of them would be an asset to ICA

  4. bmsvds says:

I feel the producers of ICA are really wanting a female to win.

I'm not sure how gun control got into this, but my personal opinion is it has no place here!! This is a FOOD blog! Whether you are for or against gun control, you need to post to your local represantives, not here!! I am as horrified as the next about what happened to those innocent people at the Sandy Hook School, and pray for the the families, that they may have the strength to carry on without their precious loved ones. But please, post where it would do the most good, not here!!

Now, it would appear Donatella is saying, step it up people!!! This is for the Next Iron Chef!!!

"Because you are so biased toward Alex, I am THIS close to smacking you upside the head, Geoffrey."

  8. LISN1 says:

Fannie, Pontificating your political views are better served on another site, such as the Huffington Post.

  9. WestCoastFan says:

    WTF! :-o

Excuse my language but honestly that is so OT.

  10. Chloe says:

All of them need to bring their A game! (As Bobby Flay would say). All of them have it in them to be an iron chef, gotta dig down deep and bring it! Stay focused and don't worry about the others- passion and determination and persistence will win NIF.
