Chef Estes Makes the Final 10 — The Next Iron Chef Caption It
by Maria Russo in Shows, November 2nd, 2012
For Duskie Estes, the opportunity to compete on The Next Iron Chef didn’t come easily. While the other nine rivals will face their first challenge during Sunday night’s premiere, Chef Estes has already battled — and won — two cook-offs on the Road to Redemption, an online-only Web series that pitted four chefs against each other in a three-round competition. Ultimately, Chefs Madison Cowan, Robert Treviño and Lee Anne Wong fell, but Chef Estes proved herself worthy of Kitchen Stadium glory with winnings in Battle Coconut and Battle Pineapple, and she earned the right to join the cast of The Next Iron Chef.
In this sneak-peek shot from the Next Iron Chef premiere, Chef Estes is seen with a no-nonsense glare and blank expression as she eyes fellow competitor Chef Elizabeth Falkner. Has a twist in the competition caused these chefs to take the spirit of friendly competition too far? Will Chef Estes be able to maintain her focus in the face of week-one stress?
Before you tune in to the Next Iron Chef: Redemption premiere this Sunday at 9pm/8c to find out what has these ladies locked in a staring contest, we’re challenging you, Next Iron Chef fans, to write your best captions (tastefully appropriate, please) for this eye-to-eye moment in the comments below.

It is the 'Producers' that are pushing the electrified hair … gay friends??? Faulkner isn't anywhere near a 'super chef' but the producers love her. why else is she there? There really needs to be some new, unbought, and unbiased judges.
The regular Iron Chef show is only on once and then only after hours and hours of Diners and Chopped, so why the big hype over new chefs?
If they were going to give second chances for Iron Chef, I would think they would be taking the No 2 or 3 from the last few seasons and everyone who left earlier would be out. This seems too random.
Good point
I completely agree with you on using only the chefs closest to the title in previous NIC contests. I still don't understand how Tim Love and Marcel VigorouslyAnnoying were included. Neither one appeared in the NIC contests.
And the secret ingredient is…Chef Elizabeth Falkner!
Oh crap I just noticed Mary said like the same thing. Sorry, Mary
Alex Guarnaschelli works for an Iron Chef, and also gets lobster for the challange. So guess who is winning this season. I think if FN want to give her a position in Iron Chef just do it. I think she should not be competing and she should not be helping an Iron Chef on the show. Not fair to other chefs.
"Whaddya mean why do my eyes look like this? Why do YOUR eyes look like THAT?"
They all look so desperate to be loved or validated – well all except Chef Love, the only Chef I would trust to make me a plate of food!!!
Iron Chef is as over-produced as a Lady Gaga concert. The script will have one of the chicks entering Kitchen Stadium to appease its 'enlightened' metro-sexual POV…
Chef Chiarello was sacrificed last season so that the pastry bimbo could "battle" Chef Z in the finals. This year they will do their best to emasculate the male chefs as they install one of the women (???) that are oh so talented…
haha. you are right on the money. as long as they haven't already chosen alex guarnaschelli as the winner. she's an annoying fat oompa-loompa who needs to be drop-kicked in the vagina.
Your comment about Alex is gross and out of line, my dear.
Shame on you. Your language is appalling. You should be banned from the blog. Personal attacks are not warranted and have no place in this forum.
Redemption to Chefs to competition Iron Chef and to be chosen overall to get a title as most artistic at gourmet talents! Now it's been sometime ago: as 'C.Cora' such ,or to get a woman for herself to winning title chef !
and now that Oompa-loompa song is in my head…
