A roster of acclaimed chefs will return for a second chance to become a member of the Iron Chef culinary society this fall, with the premiere of The Next Iron Chef: Redemption on Sunday, November 4 at 9 pm ET/PT. Earlier last month, FN Dish revealed the seven returning chefs and two newcomers:

  • Nate Appleman, Amanda Freitag, Eric Greenspan and Jehangir Mehta from The Next Iron Chef Season Two
  • Elizabeth Falkner, Alex Guarnaschelli and Spike Mendelsohn from the cast of The Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs
  • First-time Next Iron Chef competitors Tim Love and Marcel Vigneron

The tenth slot will go to the winner of a Web-exclusive competition taking place on starting October 12. The four chefs taking part in the Web battle are: Duskie Estes and Robert Treviño, who have previously competed on The Next Iron Chef, and newcomers Lee Anne Wong and Madison Cowan.

The Next Iron Chef: Redemption kicks off on “Redemption Beach,” where the chefs’ resourcefulness is tested in a grueling Chairman’s Challenge with a devious twist: Each must cook with the ingredient that sent them packing last time. Given another chance with this ingredient and only bare essentials, hot coals and one hour on the clock, some rise to the occasion while others go down in flames. The two least-successful chefs go to the Secret Ingredient Showdown, a sudden-death cook-off that leads to the first elimination.

Returning judges Donatella Arpaia and Simon Majumdar are joined by last season’s winner and newest Iron Chef, Geoffrey Zakarian, on the judging panel, along with appearances from Iron Chefs Bobby Flay, Masaharu Morimoto and Michael Symon.

The newly crowned Iron Chef’s first battle in Kitchen Stadium will premiere on Sunday, December 30 at 9pm ET/PT.

Guess Elizabeth will finally get to be a iron chef , YES i feel it's a setup!

  2. meme says:

OH forgot to finish IF chief Mehta is on again I'm sure it's going to have fire works because he sure is rude and abrasive. If Simmom is a judge you can count on another sad set of choices in and out of each winners circle!

  3. MoHub says:

My big question is why Lee Anne Wong and Madison Cowan are relegated to the web competition while Marcel Vigneron is on the main stage. Serious imbalance there.

"Each must cook with the ingredient that sent them packing last time."

Sounds suspiciously like the first Elimination Challenge on Top Chef All Stars. There is nothin new under the sun.

What a bunch of whiners in here! People complaining about the judges – have you looked at the full list? It covers just about every possible personality type. Me, I love Geoffrey, Alex and Amanda. Al;so, I don't get why it's such a negative to see repeat faces. If you like them, it's a huge plus. Someone like Arrrrrrrron Sanchez has been on a ton of these shows, and I'm still glad to see him.

I will never watch this show again, it is old, fixed, and just plain old tired.

  7. Wondering Too says:

I liked him too. Very sophisticated chef.

  8. TheRealAlton says:

Dump Judges Donatella R. PieHole and Simon the mouth. Neither can cook. How can you judge anything when you have no idea what goes into it. Some how anyone can say mmmmmm or its really bad and the mindless follow. Just dont make no sense.

    BTW who is getting fired?

  9. Grog says:

Here's an idea for FN's next "reality" show: Next Iron Chef Judge.

A panel of current and wannabe IC judges are pitted against each other in a series of contests to determine which one can most accurately identify ingredients and cooking techniques in various dishes, with style points also given for facial expressions, wit and passion in describing the dish, and appreciation of a dish's difficulty of preparation.

There will also be a cooking segment each round, in which judge candidates are required to prove they can successfully cook something that people will pay money to eat.

Judging the judges to be done by a panel of 1 Iron Chef, 2 challenger,s from IC competitions and people from the street (as in 24 Hour Restaurant Battle).

20 points for judging, 10 for cooking, and 5 for style. Winner becomes a judge (or remains as one), the rest go home.

    • Food For Thought says:

A panel of cooks who cook everyday for the public (cafeteria ladies where are you…) and a panel of viewers would be neat to add as judges. I think (just my thought) the best judges are the ones who can cook everyday and critic their own dishes as well as others honestly.

  10. Dude This blog site is sick. How did you make it look this sensible ?
