food network star fan vote

Fans of Food Network Star can’t choose the winner, but they are the voice behind choosing a fan favorite. All season long, viewers voted for their favorite season 7 contestant as many as 10 times a day.

With over 400,000 votes, it’s no surprise that this year’s winner, Jeff Mauro, was also crowned our Sandwich King. Not far behind him with 360,000 votes was Orchid Paulmeier, who fans loved for priding herself on her Southern barbecue.

Tune in to Sandwich King: Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. Eastern/ 10:30 a.m. Central

I think the right person absolutely won – it's all about personality and Jeff had that in abundance. I have a young family and we rely on sandwiches for dinner for at least 3 dinners a week. I'm excited to see his upcoming recipes!!!

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you's I loved Susie she's so sweet and down to earth I loved her personality Jeff is too boreing how many sandwiches can yopu eat I'm not a big sandwhich eater especially for a dinner meal.Watched his first show and didn't think it was that great.

It's impossible to tell, because we, as viewers, never get to see what ended up being edited out or never taped. We also see what was edited IN. For instance, the judges frequently referred to Mary Beth's wit and humor, but as viewers we NEVER saw it, I'm assuming because either it was all off-camera or edited out.

I thought any of the Final 3 (plus Orchid!) could have pulled off a show that I would watch. I love Jeff and I love his concept. It's a rare occasion that I will watch a FN show and head directly to the grocery store but that's what I did with one of Jeff's sandwiches (the fig/mortadella one) and it was AWESOME. My hubby said it was the best sandwich he's ever eaten. Even my picky teenagers liked it! Very excited to see what Jeff comes up with next. I know the show feels quite rigged but I think they've done a good job picking winners the last few seasons. I love Melissa and Aarti and watch their shows regularly. I do think it would be fun to do an "American Idol" type season where the fans get to at least help pick the winner!

  5. Melissa says:

I was a little frustrated with Jeff's first show because the ingredients he had are not available in my backwater area and he didn't list many alternative meats or cheeses to use instead of the ones he used. But I am still gonna watch, waiting for more great sandwiches!

Does anyone know if Susie gets anything for all the time and effort she put into this? I think it was predecided that Jeff would win. Why else would his family be flown to New York? I think a fix was in. I agree that Whitney was wonderful. I do not think Mary Beth had the cooking chops to make it on FN.

    • Joanne says:

Both families were flown in. They said so right before they revealed the winner.

    • mismax says:

Susie's family was flown in as well. If you watch some of the videos, Susie talks about how much mer mom loved New York.

    • Guest says:

I read before and even Guy Fieri said that Food Network Star are taped in advance to a certain point. It's actually live TV on the finale. When there are only 3 contestants left, the judges pretty much know who they will pick. and already are told who wins it by the time they do their pilots. the finale doesn't happen after a few days.

  7. Clr says:

Susie was really great, but bottom line is, food network and cooking channel do not need another show featuring Mexican food!

    • asparkle says:

I have not found any show featuring Mexican food on FN or Cooking Channel. There is one on Cooking Channel that is Miami-based but it is not about mexican food. Where are all these mexican food shows folks are talking about????

      • mismax says:

Mexican Made Easy on FN, Simply Delicioso on Cooking Channel, and Viva Daisy on Cooking Channel.

        • Jay says:

Simply Delicioso via Ingrid Hoffmann & Viva Daisy via Daisy Martinez, are Spanish/latin style cooking, not Mexican. Get your facts staight.

          • mismax says:

Wow. No need to be ugly about it. Get my facts "staight"? I assume you mean "straight". I have several Spanish/Latin cookbooks and quite a few Mexican cookbooks. Many of the recipes are quite similar. But thank you. I will remember in the future not to "confuse" the two. Geesh! Btw, the title of Ingrid's show today on cooking channel was "Tex-Mex".

  8. NJBEAR says:

BIG FAN OF YOUR NETWORK..MAGAZINES..ALL THE CHEFS BUT I REALLY TRIED TO GET INTO 'THE SANDWICH KING' BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO. HE DOES NOT HAVE A TV FRIENDLY PERSONA, HE DRONES ON AND ON ABOUT THE RECIPE, NOT MAKEING IT SOUND LIKE I WANT TO EAT IT. __ UNLIKE AARTI WHO IS CHARMING AND MAKES ME FEEL WELCOME TO HER KITCHEN AND MOST IMPORTANT MAKES ME WANT TO TRY HER FOOD, EVEN THOUGH I'M NOT USED TO INDIAN FLAVORS THAT MUCH. I WILL GIVE JEFF ANOTHER TRY.. CONGRATS TO HIM FOR WINNING. WE CANT EXPECT A GUY OR AARTI EVEY TIME!

  9. Edwina Zimnowski says:

Me and my daugher were rooting for Vic….I knew him when he was a young curly haired boy…I worked with his Aunt Marie at TWA for years..We were best friends…and his dad Vicused to cut my hair…I knew and loved the whole famly…Congrats Vic for getting to the final three….You deserve y our own show…You have the heart and soul to go far… and you are a real champ!!!!!!

    • Edra Getman says:

I agree with you, Edwina. I was rooting for Vic the whole time. Too bad, FN can't find a spot for "Mommy's Boy". Arti won last season, and Tom has a show "Outrageous Food" so maybe a show is in the works for "Mommy's Boy"

  10. Lana says:

Susie deserves to win! She is a sweetheart. I’d rather to watch her show and learn how to cook Mexican cuisine than watch sandwich show. This is a big mistake of Food network.
