When content from the Food Network Magazine comes in, it always feels like Christmas. (The magazine editors even sent a CD of the June/July content downtown to the Chelsea office by messenger service this time – my personal NYC Santa!) With that precious CD came an explosion of recipes, images and stories that we had been anticipating for months, and we rushed to get it all up online in record time.
With the magazine stories, our online burgers feature is amazing. Our designers and the tech team beautifully translated the magazine feature “50 States, 50 Burgers” from the printed page to the Web. And, of course, there’s a story all about Bobby, Bobby, Bobby.
I’m sure most Bobby fans have heard of Mesa Grill, but who knew that Bobby Flay also owns three burger joints? And, to go along with Bobby’s Burger Palaces, he wrote a burger cookbook, Bobby Flay’s Burgers, Fries, and Shakes, that he’s promoting this summer. And, to officially claim his spot as “King” of burgers, Bobby did some fantastic exclusive Web videos for us and shared 9 regionally inspired burger recipes. I call that pure summer grilling gold!
I couldn’t wait to dig right into these recipes! Here’s one that caught my eye: Wild Mushroom-Cheddar Burger. I used turkey meat to cut down on calories, but followed Bobby’s “Perfect Burger” instructions to the tee. Smoked up my apartment a bit, but it was worth it. And the Chipotle Ketchup was killer! This is definitely the way to get your summer (or late spring) started!
