Summer Content Explosion!

When content from the Food Network Magazine comes in, it always feels like Christmas. (The magazine editors even sent a CD of the June/July content downtown to the Chelsea office by messenger service this time – my personal NYC Santa!) With that precious CD came an explosion of recipes, images and stories that we had been anticipating for months, and we rushed to get it all up online in record time.

So here it is: The recipes, the Summer Drinks Slideshow, He Made She Made, the magazine home page. . . But best of all are the burgers.

With the magazine stories, our online burgers feature is amazing. Our designers and the tech team beautifully translated the magazine feature “50 States, 50 Burgers” from the printed page to the Web. And, of course, there’s a story all about Bobby, Bobby, Bobby.


I’m sure most Bobby fans have heard of Mesa Grill, but who knew that Bobby Flay also owns three burger joints? And, to go along with Bobby’s Burger Palaces, he wrote a burger cookbook, Bobby Flay’s Burgers, Fries, and Shakes, that he’s promoting this summer. And, to officially claim his spot as “King” of burgers, Bobby did some fantastic exclusive Web videos for us and shared 9 regionally inspired burger recipes. I call that pure summer grilling gold!


I couldn’t wait to dig right into these recipes! Here’s one that caught my eye: Wild Mushroom-Cheddar Burger. I used turkey meat to cut down on calories, but followed Bobby’s “Perfect Burger” instructions to the tee. Smoked up my apartment a bit, but it was worth it. And the Chipotle Ketchup was killer! This is definitely the way to get your summer (or late spring) started!

    Let me be the first to say that Bobby Flay’s Burgers, Fries, and Shakes cookbook is a summer must-have! I’ve only had the book for 2 weeks but it has already provided complete burger bliss! I’ve made the California Burger which is topped with guacamole, the Cheyenne the includes a delicious homemade BBQ sauce and crispy onion rings. For sides the buttermilk onion rings and grilled fries are divine and “fluffy” whipped cream is delish on any shake or sundae for that matter! I guess unlike Kristen I’ve amped up my calorie intake lately LOL!

    Can’t wait for the next magazine issue to arrive!!

    Hi Kirsten, nice post! (sorry ’bout my delay in replying – been swamped) Love, love, love the 50 burgers in 50 states thingy – local folks argue about their fav burger joints more than folks in Texas argue about BBQ !! heehee.

    Love to read about Bobby, Bobby, Bobby, cuz I’ve had just about enough of Guy, Guy, Guy. I’ll be seeing both at the Great American Food & Music Fest in CA in June, and the more I know about Bobby, the less of a fool I’ll appear to be.

    (whether or not I am, in fact, a fool is up for debate.) :-)

    Hi, my name is Tea Leavell, and my question is, what kind of backcountertop are used , on Sunny Anderson and or Ann B ., cookshow, that allows them to place a hot pot on that surface.. Im in the process of building a new home, and i love to cook, and I would love to be able to take a hot pot/pan of the stove or oven and place it on the countertop, and not have to worry abouth destroying it because of the heat? Please help me.. Oh I voted for bobbty and rachel, there's something in there for everyone, just pick the one that fits your taste… thank you.. Leavell@insightbb.com
