TV vs. Live
The camera lens sees things differently than a live audience does. While Katie’s kids demo charmed Bobby, Rachael and the kids in the room, it made Susie and me seriously uncomfortable to watch on tape. Exaggerated facial expressions, glacial speech, wild-eyed enthusiasm. In person, it seemed to work. But on camera – not at all.

Mid Terms
Katie: She was middle of the pack till the bottom dropped out. She could never translate her fun, spunky energy to the camera, or her food expertise to the plate. Though she showed her best work on The Rachael Ray Show, her erratic performances and questionable dishes sealed it for me. Shame, because I truly like her and we could have used a healthy expert.

Jamika: I felt like a parent watching their child drop the fly ball that loses the game. I’m heartbroken. What is going on? She’s giving up. Two weeks in a row. This will either be the wake up call she needed, or the end. I’m hoping for the former.

Melissa: She gave a solid performance in the kid’s challenge. But I was disappointed that Rushed Melissa re-emerged on Rachael’s show. She wasn’t having fun, so we weren’t either. Where is the calm, radiant Melissa of last week? Aargh.

Debbie: I was seriously impressed with her warm, casual, chatty delivery on Rachael. She could have been a long-time star plugging her latest cookbook. She worked it like a pro. But if she doesn’t deepen beyond her “I’m Korean” chant, we’re going to get worn out.

Jeffrey: Prince Charming was back in the kids challenge. Impressive. But not on Rachael’s show. In reaction to Jamika’s checking out, he could’ve acted like a star and used his energies to engage her: ask her questions, suggest she help him cook. Instead, he launched into a four minute non-stop monologue, ignored Jamika, and wouldn’t let go of the camera. Not the Jeffrey who has impressed us thus far.

Michael: The camera brings out the worst in him: rushed, nervous and repetitive. And there’s been little improvement. Frustrating because he’s proved he’s got wild cooking talent and personality to burn when performing live. But the ability to charm a crowd in person has little to do with our needs for a television star.

They all have their challenges, and precious little time to overcome them.

See ya next week in Miami! Oh, and hey, be sure to vote in Star’s Fan Vote Sweepstakes for the finalist you would have sent home!

OUT-RAGE-OUS!! Of course Debbie sabotaged Michael! I did not expect him to win, he is too flamboyantly OTT for FN, but I thought for sure she would be first! IF there were any justice; IF the judges really had the slightest clue; IF integrity really did mean something to them then yes, she would have gotten the boot tonight! Sure her food was good because she had a lot of time to calmly plate it after de-marinating the salmon and “selflessly” take care of nothing but her own! That, plus the salad-in-a-steakhouse debacle should have been IT for her! She is a liar. She is dumppy and sloppy. She puts on this ACT and has the nerve to speak about the integrity of others? I am seeing FN in a whole new light now and it is NOT a favorable one! That they let this go on as long as it has shows that they are either already under contract with her and it’s a done deal, or they are completely clueless.
I don’t care one way or the other if Melissa learned Spanish at three from a nanny or from reading cereal boxes in Cabo, she is a good cook, she has integrity and personality. Jamika, nice enough, personable and good cook. My money is still on Jeffrey. IF integrity, cooking skill and personality are REALLY what they want in a “winner”.
This is seeming more and more like a farce.
DEBBIE MUST GO or that will be the last day I watch FN after, what, about 15 years?

  2. Marie says:

The disappointing thing about the majority of challenges is that no one is able to really showcase his or her talents because each one is about racing against limited time and working in unfamiliar kitchen. In light of that, what’s important is how each person comes across to the public. Nothing more need to be said about how unlikeable Debbie is, at least to this group. I am hoping for a new show, (please…on after 7 pm !!), that will teach me somethng new, which is why I would much prefer Jeffery to win than Melissa or Jamika. There are already enough friendly next door cooks on FN. And if I have have to hear Rachael Ray mug EVOO or Yummo one more time I will scream. Please move her to daytime.

  3. Cindy F. says:

I have wanted Debbie to go since show one. She is just not trustworthy and very selfish. Half the time I get the feeling that she is not trying to be the best, just making sure she does not look like the worse (even if it means manipulating things to make herself look like the martyr.) I was soooo glad Melissa called her out on it tonight. It was about time she could not simply put on an innocent act and get away with being a jerk.

I was not surprised that Michael went home. I was never too fond on him, I always felt like he was too busy putting on a show and an act to be genuine. However, that could have been toned down eventually. He is not the first person that put on too big of a fake smile and fake enthusiasm before and like the others, they could have taught him to relax a bit more and be slightly more genuine.

I have a feeling the reason he went home was two things. First, the crowd did not take to him as much as they assumed they would. He was a bit over-the-top and from what it looked/sounded like which would not have been a bad thing if he had more than two main phrases he kept repeating rather than actually saying something original to people. When you say the exact same line to everyone, it starts to not seem so genuine or clever. The second reason was he once again admitted he was bad in front of the camera and not comfortable there. At the end of the competition, the prize is being in front of the camera all the time, not just socializing and being the center of attention in a crowd.

My two favorites are actually Jeffery and Melissa and I hope they make it to the finale. My third has been Jamika, but she has been fading a bit over the last few weeks. I really hope she regains the magic she had the first few weeks and dazzles them again so she can make it to the top four. I would be so disappointed if she does not. Debbie does not belong in the top 4, she has went on far longer than she should have already. The goal is to find a good chef with a good personality and if the judges ever got to see what we have, they would know, Debbie does not really qualify, she has done too many selfish things. Besides, if all it takes to make food Korean is add soy souse or ginger, than I guess I have been cooking Korean my whole life and never realized it. And honestly, that is all I have learned about Korean food from her this whole time and that is supposed to be her main thing she wants to teach people.

  4. Michaelsgotmyvote says:

Well, things are not going to be so lovey dovey in the dorm room now. Melissa and Jeffrey will be a little icy towards Debbie from now on I imagine.

  5. Joe in N. Calif. says:

Was DTK even at the same challange? Self sacrificeing(or whatever it was she said that implied that)? When? Where? She needs to go next week.

I really wanted to see her go, but on the other hand, every week Michael has said he doesn’t like or do well on camera. Well, this is a contest to win a TV show. It is ALL ABOUT THE CAMERA. If he feels that way about the camera he should never have entered. His being in the finals bumped someone else.

Doc, I know what you mean about accents. One of my high school spanish teachers was from Chicago, and spoke Spanish with a Chicago accent. I’ve also had Spanish teachers from Argentina and various parts of Mexico. So – my accent is REALLY bad.

I think having one big team was unfair to all of them. They are going head to head for the last spots. They are not going to hire them as a team, why test them as a team? And asking them to each make 2 items was setting the team up to fail. To make something to wow Bob & Susie, they needed to make things at least medium complicated, and they just plain didn’t have the time for it.

I liked that Melissa turned to and worked like a demon. And thought to make something vegitarian. And for the first time she didn’t aim her talk to stay at home moms with toddlers.

I think Jeffrey, even though he turned it over to DTK, should have been a bit more on top of things. I’ve done some informal catering (friends weddings, feast days and seminars at church, plus one of the food booths at the parish food festival) and no matter how much you trust the people in the kitchen, you need to keep an eye on everything if you are the host/head honcho.

On the other hand, DTK is supposedly in the catering business, she should have known how to keep the food coming and taken steps to do the job Jeffrey had assigned to her rather than working (slowly) on her stuff to the exclusion of getting food out.

I finally figured out what I don’t like about Jamika – Her voice and mannerisms remind me too much of Prissy from the movie Gone With The Wind. Plus she doesn’t seem to deal with pressure well.

  6. R.R. says:

Maybe they’re keeping DTLK as someone “we love to hate”. I wasn’t surprised about Michael. The whole time, he has admitted that he is not comfortable in front of the camera. As this is a competition for a TELEVISION SHOW, can’t see how he could get by without a camera. At least he didn’t seem overly surprised or upset that he was leaving. At least he had integrity and didn’t blame anybody else. ‘Nuff said. Hopefully the judges pick the best man/woman for the show. Guess we’ll see how DTLK can do WITHOUT the Korean ingredients. Although, I don’t consider garlic or soy sause “Korean”. Just figured they were Italian and Chinese/Japanese if I’d ever actually thought about it. Anyway, almost can’t wait till next Sunday.

  7. Joe in N. Calif. says:

Marie – whoever wins will be stuck with a 10 or 10:30 a.m. (pacific time) slot for their show. One of the worst times you can come up with.

I too would like to see more shows about how to cook, shows from which I can pick up little hints and tricks of the trade. I’m tired of seeing 15 foot, 800 pound cakes. Or candy center pieces. Or peanut brittle clothing. How about an evening show on the lines of Molto Mario, or the shows Sara Moulton used to do? Put the food back in Food Network.

And, while I’m complaining – how about more shows about California or Pacific Northwest? There IS food outside of New York and the eastern seaboard.

  8. emma says:

Now that’s entertaining and educational! Who knew they tied the knives to counters in the airport? Thank you TSA, I’ll feel much safer expressing my opinion to chefs in the Terminal restaurants.

Aren’t some of the contestants supposed to be caterers? I guess the definition has changed to preclude you can actually supervise the kitchen, help as needed and plate your own dishes. Thank goodness for Melissa remembering the vegetarians or they might have had to gnaw on one of those lovely Miami palms. This episode we were denied the obvious “Teachers pet!” comment but upon reviewing the fun we drank to: AWKWARD STATEMENTS like Jamika discussing her dislike of toilets (just as she’s served the judges her food) and Michael reminding them he doesn’t like the camera…in case they forgot.

I’ll back up Melissa on the Spanish-speaking nanny comment because you can still get one relatively cheap and be a single mom trying to go to school. Little kiddies bond with the primary caregiver and Melissa seems to have been powerfully influenced by hers; when she whipped out that accent mas excellete in front of the judges she really surprised them.

We also clinked glasses to Debbie’s redefinition of “selfless” and “steakhouse fare”, Jamika telling the judges she didn’t have time to chat with them and Michael promising a party-goer he’d hand feed her. There’s not a dramedy on today that has a cast this good so it’s sad to see Michael leave.

FN can’t be editing to hilight Selfish Debbie if she’s the winner, it’s counter productive to their plan for a marketable star but it’s driving ratings and creating a lot of buzz out there. If Bob and Suzi can shrug off the personal hits to increase revenue then they’ll do it. Cheers, and we can’t wait for next week!

One favor FN: Can you play some sinister organ music in the background when Debbie is on camera? Next week we’re drinking and yelling BWA-HA-HA whenever we see her. I’m hoping that I’m too shot-faced to type a comment after.

  9. KITRINA says:

Please Please Please – Get Debbie off this show. I thought she should have been tossed after her selfish self-centered shopping trip in Episode 1. Her ‘I’m great because I’m Korean’ is growing old (and I am not biased against Koreans – she’s just totally obnoxious). This week she touts a limp salad dish for a Steak Restaurant (Loser) and then sabotages part of the party by not doing her part as assigned.. Michael was my 3rd Favorite (after Jeffery and Jamika) and to see him get expelled instead of the B-tch with no integrity and the ‘look at me only’ attitude sucks. Get Rid of Debbie. I will never, never, never what any show she has.

  10. Holly says:

Food Network should be ashamed Michael was the only original personality left. Gee I can hardly wait to watch another stay at home mommy cooking show or some not particularly interesting guy stand in front of a stove. FN needed someone different and what is left is the same old…

  11. Tisha Wilcutt says:

Should have sent Debbie home. Micheal was not going to win, but would rather see him any-day than two faced Debbie.
The winner should be Jeffery. His show I will watch.

  12. emma says:

Sorry about two comments so close together but reading back someone asked what a board troll was. Don’t worry, whatever it is Jeffrey will be required to hunt it down and try to figure out how to cook it with blueberries. Then Debbie will throw garlic on it and call it KOREAN..

  13. Melissa Houle says:

It was chaos in the kitchen, Debbie, supposedly an experienced caterer, was supposed to streamline things and keep food moving efficiently out the door to the party guests. She said herself that the guests shouldn’t know if there’s chaos in the kitchen. Instead, she ignores everything but her own dishes although Melissa and Jamika were clearly struggling and in need of another pair of hands. She ignored Jeffrey’s pointed request that she help get the food prep organized. THEN she has the moxie to tell the judging panel “she didn the best she could” and she was “being selfless.” Like Teddy, her behavior was right there on camera for anyone to see! And yet… MICHAEL went home?

I think Debbie deserved to be axed, instead. I will note that Jeffrey should have given the team some tough love about the dishes they chose to prepare, and chosen things that were less complex.

  14. IndyPaul says:

Just checking the bios, and they list live appearances. The remaining finalists except Melissa have an appearance next week. Melissa’s last listed appearance on this site was today (the 12th). Jeffrey, however, is already booked for the 30th…

  15. Sue says:

Melissa, remember her MOm was in the Navy while she was growing up so I have no doubt she had a spanish speaking Nanny… I DO NOT think she’s lying.. she may have played it up by saying she learned Spanish first.

Jeffrey was FANTASTIC! We learned more about him this week and he’s SO comfortable in front of the camera!

As far as I’m concerned the other finalists can go home.. Especially DTK

  16. Sue says:

Just finish reading Melissa’s bio.. She is FAR from being the typical “stay at home Mom”… There is a depth to her that I didn’t realize until this weeks show.

  17. Glenn, Poulsbo, HP, K7'sHA says:

Just an idle (horrible) speculation here…
    Next week,
    1. They take away Debbie’s Korean ingredients.
    2. Debbie cries about something ‘hurtful’.
She just could NOT be playing the race card, could she?

    Hi Margot.

    Glenn

  18. chelseafran says:

About Michael getting booted: Yes, he would have needed coaching/mentoring to become comfortable on-camera, but at least he could cook. As opposed to the other “chef” contestants. I’ll take the camera coaching every time! So, on the 2009 edition of FN, appearance/demographics/audience appeal trumps kitchen chops? Interesting.

Also, banning contestant’s favorite ingredients almost makes me wish Healthy Girl was still there–it would have been hilarious watching her trying to cook with butter, cream, processed food, etc. How the tears would have flowed!!

  19. Darla says:

Maybe Debbie is being kept for the drama, but I’m getting tired of her crap with the other contestants and I’m sick of hearing the judges putting down everything Jeffrey does. I thought Jeffrey did very well tonight. This is one of the few shows that I won’t watch a second time (I haven’t watched any of the episodes more than once because I’ve just gotten more disgusted as the time goes on). Frankly, if Debbie stays next week, it will probably be the last one I watch; and I won’t even start to watch the one next year. IF FN wants drama and excitement over a real challenge of the contestants, they can have it, but I’ll be voting against the whole show by turning the dial. Enough is enough!

  20. Ness says:

I guess the judges forgot that in hte beginning of her career on FN, Giada hated the camera too. She was stiff and scared. Look at her now! Michael was not my pick to win, but he could have learned just as she did.

Now we are stuck with Debbie and like someoone else said, if she stays next week, I’m not. My summers with NFNS will be over for good.

  21. na says:

Just a quick couple of questions – “When was Jeffrey supposed to make homemade chips?” – He was dinged for that when he served his food – they had what? – an hour – two hours – in an unfamiliar market, an unfamiliar kitchen and acting as host – how much do they expect –
I’m an undecided for the finals at the moment other than believing Debbie should have gone the first week -however – let’s be reasonable here – what exactly did Ted Allen really believe could be accomplished in that short time by only 1 person?

  22. Mark & Sharon says:

Once again the judges have decided to keep the one person (Debbie) who has yet again lied about her work,as well as failed to work as a team member by placing her dishes before the rest of the team. This from a women who claims to have previous catering experience. She should be gone!

  23. Sandra says:

I just watched the last episode in which Michael was eliminated. I should have been either Jeffery or Debbie. They both are selfish and only care about themselves and will sabotage any one else to win. Debbie should have been gone week one when she lied about the budget.

  24. joel says:

this year continues to be much more unpleasant to watch! the sniping, ansd backbiting among the contestants, the outright dishonesty, which the camera always catches, it stomach-turning. why would anybody want to watch debbie’s show if she wins? even if she is the best chef? this year is more survivor-like in nature, and it is just unpleasant to watch. i know it is a competition, but this is just meanness. although we will muiss michael’s ubiquitous “lve you guys” at the end of each episode.

  25. MICHAEL MEYER says:

I was really shocked that you kept Debbie over anyone. As she has proven to be all for her self know matter the challenge. As she proved last night she did not help anyone, all she focused on was her dishes so its no wonder the judges liked them best, as far as that goes everyone one else doing the same thing I doubt her dishes would have turned out the best.

  26. tarte tatin says:

Thank you, Flo in Vegas, for mentioning the first thing that came to mind when I saw Debbie open that bottle with her teeth. Eeew, I thought, they’ve got to eliminate or at least sternly sanction her for that. How gross. It’s as bad as Katie’s serving raw food, and boy did they call her out on that one. Instead they jump all over Jamika for a verbal faux pas, the mentioning of airline toilets. Well, that was in poor taste. But it didn’t carry the genuine threat of food poisoning.

Bobby Flay once mentioned looking at the tapes before the evaluations. Didn’t they do that this time? Or is it only the actual demonstrations they care about, as opposed to basic kitchen sanitation?

  27. Sarah says:

The first time I watched the show I realized Debbie was a liar and full of herself. She went to the grocery with Michael took up too much stuff {isn’t she a caterer she should know these things} then went back and told everyone that they had money remaining. Yes her food maybe tastes the best but that is not the only quality someone must have to be a FOOD NETWORK STAR. Mostly every one who watches the show see her dishonestly why can’t the JUDGES see her irresponsibility and dishonesty.

  28. Jan says:

My husband and I were talking last night about which of these folks we would watch on a show. I LIKE Michael but I would have gotten tired of his antics quickly unless he had found a more balanced place between antic and obnoxious. I LIKE Jamika but she lets every little thing get to her. And on a show, there are a lot of little things that can get to you. I do like her quieter, sweet personality on camera when she’s being real, but I’m not sure she could consistently do that.

Melissa is full of little tips and I like that. I’m always looking for small do-able things. I’m seriously pressed for time when I cook so I would like to see that kind of thing. And I like Jeffrey. He’s a quieter guy but comes across as so trustworthy. And though he hasn’t always shined (food wise) on this competition, I think he has the food chops to carry a show and bring something unusual. And honestly, I’m a little tired of over-the-top guys…sometimes I want to watch someone who seems more like a dad or a brother…a normal guy. So whichever one of these two wins, I would watch shows by both of them so go ahead and make them both a star.

I wouldn’t watch Debbie after seeing this competition. What she has done in every team situation has been disgraceful. Which is too bad. I would love to see a solid (real) Asian cook on Food Network, but not this lady. A real Asian cook. And one we haven’t already seen bury her chef knife in the backs of her teammates.

  29. Dwayne says:

Debbie is what is killing this show at the moment. I think she shouldve been booted this week, not Michael, yes Michael has a fear of cameras, but he does have alot of enthusiasm and great ideas that could have been molded for a TV show, Debbie has to go, Jamicka needs to get her act together, Mellissa needs to keep doing what shes doing and execute a little better and Jefferey just needs to relax and focus more on cooking!

  30. Jean says:

I don’t think that the ability to cook the best is the most important thing, at this point. They obviously can all cook, but some had an off night because of the difficulty of the challange.

Debbie-This lying, caniving, manipulating witch should go. I don’t seriously think anyone who has watched these challenges would ever watch anything she did.

Jamika-A sweet lady, but not aggressive enough for the job. She looks like she could fall apart at any minute.

Melissa-Way too hyper for me. The judges beat up on Kelsey last year for her hyped-up energy, and I don’t think she was as bad as Melissa is this year. She makes me nervous just watching her. If she can’t calm down, she’ll having people tuning out in a hurry.

Jeffery-My favorite, by far. He has an easy-going personality, and when left to his own, comes across as a very likeable guy. I would like to spend an afternoon (or at least a half hour) watching this guy cook. His laid-back manner and friendly personality make him fun to watch. I think he is by far the most interesting, and most watchable person left.

  31. Wisconsin Fan says:

I feel bad that Michael got sent home but I think it was inevitable. I just wish it would have been next week. Debbie deserved to go home if not for her deception but for her lack of control in the kitchen. I have a part time catering biz and I could have done that in a snap with people that don’t have any culinary training. It was inexcusable. If you make a mistake own up to it and accept the consequences. You can’t teach integrity.

  32. Mary Kalnin says:

    Hi,

Once again you allowed Debbie to be self-serving and not reap the consequences. All those judges who voted for her to stay are just plain wrong, and I really wonder when they will realize that, while her food might be terrific, she is a lousy spokesperson for a network that preaches integrity. Michael did have to go, but he could have been allowed one more week. I certainly won’t be watching any show Debbie might be given. Debbie will always be the way she is; why not, you admonish her but don’t follow through.

    ……………………………………………….

    hi glenn, we’re both here!

    ROFL.

  34. 45acp says:

btw, glenn; don’t you ever sleep??

  35. Betty says:

KUDOS to you, Bob for voting for Debbie to go. I don’t think anyone , but Debbie, wants her to stay. Not only is she a coniving back stabber, her voice just grates on me. The same low monotone and no energy. I would NEVER watch a show with her.

Melissa is starting to grow on me, especially after calling out Debbie for lying about “doing all that she could”. As one poster noted, all of the contestants can cook or they would’nt have been on the show in the first place. Michael may or may not have been coachable for the camera. And, he was starting to be irritating.

Jamika is a “non personality”. Like “Korean Debbie”, Jamika tends to constantly do something “jerk” but not successful.

That leaves Jeffery. Honestly, he leave me cold. He may be a likable guy, but nothing special. Actually, there is no clear favorite here. Just Ho Hum.

Now for the regulars on the FN. Get rid of the Neeleys. They are sooooo annoying, as is Paula Deen (to me). Enough of her “y’all” I’m from the south also, but stopped saying “y’all” years ago. Ina Garten is my all time favorite. She can COOK. I’ve made several of her dishes, and successfuly too.

Here’s a flash: Bobby “Get over yourself”. Can you ever cook anything without hot peppers?

  36. Darla says:

This is no longer a challenge. It’s sabotage. Jeffrey has worked harder every week but get picked at for everything he does. The judges never complement at all. He was a hard worked last night but got nothing but criticism. Jamika doesn’t seem to have gotten her energy back after losing it the last couple of weeks. I’d thought it would be her and Jeffrey in the end. Melissa has gained a lot of ground in the meantime. The two finalists in my opinions should be Jeffrey and Melissa. I’d watch either of their shows. However, with the way the judges have been voting, I don’t have any confidence that will happen.

Btw, I recently saw a show where either Rachel Ray or Giada made a stringbean dish almost identical to what Jen made the first week and raved about how good it was. Jen should have been given a change and Debbie sent packing that first night. It would have made the show much more enjoyable than it has been.

  37. cori-andre says:

there is a very viscious rumor that to qualify as a great restaurant you have to be in NYC….how this was perpetrated i don’t know..recently on master chef an asian ny chef won and a remark was made to the likes of “see ny won”… it is possible that the real estate is so prohibitive here on this twelve mile island (the dutch offered 12.00 and the british took it for free)that you really have to have great culinary skills or you wont make it……even the street food vendors are now rated! its all about space… i do think west coast people have more breathing space … not to be cornered by michelin stars and zagat ratings(which no longer have an air of exclusivity), one can be part of a more interesting, and fresh culinary product, without the tedious reigns of pate chous.

Personally, i was sorry to see Jeffrey not thoroughly appreciated for his contribution to the “miami” cocktail party. He did make sure everyone was assigned accordingly, made provisions for a jalapeno coktail, made certain everyone had provisions, communicated with great diplomacy with the executive chef of the hotel, checked all the guest needs. He personally cut short his own hor’douerves and made them simple so he would be able to accomplish all the other aspects of the party. It was obvious to all that Debbie aka DTKL did not contribute to the overall input of the party.
i will say that a bit more simplicity in the recipes (easy fish, lamb, chicken and veggie shish kebobs) might have helped.

  38. Beth says:

I so agree w/ all that Debbie shoud have been gone a long time ago! She HAS dishonesty, lack of integrity and a boring personality. What she needs is a backbone!

What stood out to me was when they were cooking on the Intrepid, she gets hit in the face w/ a sheet pan. BIG DEAL! It just really upset me that she’s whining away and she’s cooking for TROOPS JUST RETURNING FROM THE MIDDLE EAST!!! Can you imagine any of our fine military men & women complaining about a bump in the face. She said she was in so much pain, she could hardly function…Give me a break! That whole scenario made me very angry that she would whine about something so petty, when she’s surrounded by troops that have more than likely experienced horrific circumstances or maybe even been injured.

The other stupid thing she did was not saying “behind you”. So I see it as her fault she got knocked in the face. Even in my own home kitchen, we say “behind you” or “hot coming through”, etc.

As so many posters have said, I would never watch a show of Debbie’s. If FN is doing this whole thing w/ Debbie for drama or ratings, they’re barking up the wrong tree. FN…keep up the hijinx if you want to alienate me from watching TNFNS and the FN in general.

  39. Glenn, Poulsbo, .40 S&W, HP, K7'sHA says:

I hope they go to texas next, they could call the episode…..

    Debbie does Dallas…

Well, since she’s still here, she must be doing somebody er uh,.. something.

    Glenn

  40. Patrick says:

Debbie needs to go. My family will refuse to watch anything she does for the FN if she does win. I too have felt she needed to be let go since the first weeks episode. She has since lived up to her dishonesty, backstabbing, care about herself attitude. Last night was awful. Of course her food was good. It appeared she took all the extra time she needed to finish her two dishes. When the time was up that should have been it,,,,plate and send. NO MORE cooking. She was still chopping away. Then she has the nerve to say she was the ONLY one in the kitchen for most of the party. OMGOsh,,,,REALLY???? I find it hard to believe the editing was that bad to us viewers because I saw Melissa and Jamika busting rear in there. Not Debbie. Honestly, Our hearts just sank last night when Michael was sent home over Debbie. Michael could have gone another week. He doesnt like the camera, give him a show that would feed off his strength … a crowd. Why not something like Paula’s party or Guy off the hook? He is not our fan favorite but he at least beats Debbie’s selfish ways.

    Hi Glenn!

I have been thrilled that you have seen through the Eddy’s and the Brett’s. Now you all really need to see through Debbie. Sure, you can have a great conversation with her and you will feel welcomed. But be careful what you say because she will turn against you. Did Michael need to go? You bet. But just because Debbie’s app’s turned out ok, did any of you remember the NOT so steak salad? Seriously. I have worked with women like her countless times. I have been in F&B forever, it is team work. Not selfish lie to the judges time. OH, and it wasn’t even the first time. Please oh please get rid of Debbie and look more at Melissa. She is always so full of surprises, and so real. The end should be between Jeffery and Melissa. I think Melissa could be the next Guy. The only truly good FN star you have turned out as of yet.

Hello All: it has been a stressful week or so caring for my elderly ill Dad, it is always on your mind and weighs heavily on you when a parent is ill. But he was a little better this weekend, so I was able to see the program last night. I am incredulous! Debbie’s lack of integrity and lack of honesty is astounding. Actually, it is frightening. I would not want to work up close and personal with someone like that. I think that “I’m Korean, you know” woman would do anything to put herself in the best light possible at the expense of others. I am thoroughly perplexed that FN has kept her on all these weeks. I have to wonder why Bobby F and Suse F would vote for her despite the fact they thought her food was very good. Yes, FN is all abt the food, but if viewes don’t trust the host, who watches: Nobody. And how many advertisers get theier prdoucts seen by viewers: None. Truly, if “I’m Korean, you know” Debbie isn’t out the door next Sunday, I think FN owes all we viewers a huge apology. Well, time to check up on Dad. Take care everyone, hope you have a safe, happy and healthy week. BTW, Happy Bastille Day, Tuesday, July 14. –Frenchie 714

Hi Margot! Sleep is a relative thing, I get it when I can….

I do enjoy the show whether I agree with the judges criticism or not.

    Thanks Bob.

I was so angry at last nights show. I don’t even feel like watching the end. I use my DVR and watch later Sunday night. Michael should not have gone home. It should have been Debbie. She should have gone long ago. Also Katie should have left before some of the others.

I was looking forward to the new season, but now I don’t care what happens. I hope Jeffery wins, but who knows with the way the judges are acting this time around. I’m beginning to hate this show.

I have watched the FN every since we got it on cable. I think it was 1997. It was my first choice to watch most of the time. Now I hardly ever watch any more. The shows are repeats and most of the new shows are not appealing to me. I’m sick of Rachel Ray. I do watch her talk show, but I can’t stand her voice or constant over doing EVVO, salt over the shoulder for luck, etc. Also, she is very sloppy in her cooking. The other thing that turns me off, is all of the commerials. When I first started watchin FN there were none. I long for some of the old shows that I used to watch every night. I guess I will be parting ways with FN.

  46. Barb Ladd says:

Are you judges blind? Debbie should have been axed. All she does, is for herself. Amd Milissa. She is such a complainer, whine, whine, whine. If either of these two win, I’ll never, never watch their shows. And Rachel Ray. I am so sick of her. She is loud, and repeats that silly slogan about olive oil. She was ok at first, but now she gets on my nerves. Actually, we need more males, too many females. I do like Ina, she acts like one of us. Please, please, oust Debbie and Melissa. tks, Barb

  47. owen says:

I agree with almost everyone that Debbie should go. I find it hard to believe the judges would keep her, Teddy or any of the other dishonest ones once they have exhibited this behavior. I don’t care how well they cook! You will have to work with this person on your network. Do you really want someone with an obvious lack of integrity?

  48. Bonnie says:

This is the worst year yet for NFNS!! If Melissa wins, I’m done with watching. I watch FN to learn and relax. I don’t believe she has anything to teach and she is way too FRANTIC!!!! Debbie is a sneak. If Jeffrey has a personality, it’s not coming across on the screen. I like Jamika when she is “on” and not crying. I don’t see a clear winner but please NOT Melissa!

  49. elaine says:

Yeeesss, the judges are finally catching on to Debbie! I suspect the shows are all in the ‘can” but I sure hope we can see Melissa on the Food Network next year. To me she has the 3 most important characteristics of a good cook–Energy, love of cooking & most importantly, she was the only one to think abt her “guests” first, (vegetarian)!!! She’s got it, hands down. And by the way, that smile never quits!

  50. Mary Beth says:

Love the show! However, I was really disappointed that Michael was voted off instead of Debbie. She was totally disrespectful when she told Bob that it was not her job to plate 6 dishes. HELLO?! An expediter does whatever it takes to get the food out of the kitchen.

It may have been more helpful to Michael if the judges gave him some tips on how to overcome his “depths of hell fear” for the camera. At least he was honest! I can’t say that about Debbie. Michael’s honesty was truely refreshing and his food was really good from the comments the judges gave. Also, I think that even though he had a ‘good time’ at the cocktail party he is a selfless person – his good time is seeing to it that the guests are comfortable – it’s not always about him. I still think that he could be molded into a great FN star…move over Adam.
