Since we start the new season on Sunday night, I thought I’d take this chance to respond to some of the questions you’ve been asking me recently.
Why didn’t you pick _______ to win last year? Did the judges decide at the beginning who they wanted to win?
I’m always amused by this. First, Bobby, Susie and I rarely agree on anybody. You try getting Bobby Flay to say anything he doesn’t believe. Last year, we disagreed vehemently up until the final decision of the final episode. We each championed a different finalist. From what I could tell from the thousands of e-mails and postings, viewers seemed as equally split as we were between
Aaron, Adam and Lisa. Everyone felt their favorite was the only reasonable choice. Ultimately, our final decision seemed the right one: Aaron’s show, Big Daddy’s House, has been one of our top weekend cooking shows since his debut last summer.
What can I look forward to this year?
You’ll see a lot more of our deliberations and our thinking process (and why I’m right and Bobby & Susie are wrong)! You’ll see top celebrity chefs – from our network and beyond. Even everyone’s favorite Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten, joins us for the first time this year. We’ll head down to Miami. You’ll see tougher challenges which really push the finalists to their limits. The most common thing I hear from our guest stars after tapings is “if I had to go through what they’re going through, I’d never have a show on Food Network.”
Whatever happened to (Season 3 Winner) Amy Finley?
After
Amy won, her series The Gourmet Next Door quickly became one of the highest rated cooking series in our weekend cooking block. When I called Amy to tell her we were renewing her series, she informed me she did not want to do any more. She had moved with her family to France, and was very happy with her new life. I did what any good programming executive would do: pleaded, begged and whined. But to no avail.
How many people audition each year? How do I?
Between the tapes sent in, and the people who audition at our live casting calls around the country, we see several thousand people each year. FoodNetwork.com/Star is the best place to check in for info about auditioning – it’ll be updated as soon as we finalize our audition cities and locations.
I found Brett boring, was disappointed in Debbie’s actions but feel that Jeffery will be the winner. I felt the same last year about Aaron and it proved to be correct. Many posts keep talking about Lisa, who I found to be very annoying. All in all it’s great fun and I admire anybody who puts themselves on the line to participate. Many nights I can’t manage to get dinner on the table without creating a huge mess, either in the clean up or the final product.
Good luck to the finalist.
The first time I saw Jen I thuoght the pretty girl will be the first to go. Its amazing that they eliminater her before Deb. Who went over buget then lied and said they were within a dollar of it. Did not get all the ingredients her teamates needed. Then lied again about the angel food cake. I love to make fancy meals. But as others said with the bad economy Jen View is what is needed for these times. Also, I dont see how Bretts comments were inapropriate. It was clear he dident mean them in any offensive manner. Alot of women are complimented by being called beautiful.
I notice that the majority of your finalists are 30-something years old. The oldest contestant is 42. There are lots of 50+ experience cooks out there with a wealth of stories and depth of personality. Why have we not seen any “Paula Deen-types” as contestants? I find the 30-somethings might have cooking experience, but don’t have enough life experience to be truly interesting. Of course, this is coming from a 50-something who would love to be your Northern Paul Deen.
I would like to say that i was mistaken in my last comment. I just watched Jens exit video where she obviosley seemes to love her husband. Then Brett says if it doesent work out with her husband to call him. Definetly sexist. You shouldent even joke like that. Whitch i dought he was.
I, too, was disappointed that the “home cook” was eliminated because of her green bean dish. I believe that the majority of your viewers were more interested in Green Beans and apple tarts (by the other home cook) than some of the other more up-scale dishes.
I also agree with the Low Carb comment. There are thousands of diabetics in this country, as well as those on Low Carb for a lifestyle of eating who would love a show that promotes low-carbsugar-free ideas.
Debbie came across as a “not-too-likeable” sort with the most terrible angel-food cake idea. She could have at least made a triffle with the cake.
You’ll see a lot more of our deliberations and our thinking process (and why I’m right and Bobby & Susie are wrong)!
??? didn’t see hardly any deliberation process. And when people were kept or sent home, you didn’t explain (on air) what kept them in (and they should do more of) and what had them on the edge (that they should do less of). That’s a big part of what makes the show fun – lifting the curtain on the food and skills needed to be a FN star. Please show more of the discussion and thought process going forward.
To say I am really disappointed in last night’s show would be a major understatement. There are so few wholesome shows left to watch these days…. and I thought this was one of them. Alas, this too has gone the way of “politically correct”? “almighty dollar”? who knows what was the driving force behind the judges “decision”. Bob, you have a lot of nerve to comment on integrity and then NOT get rid of someone who not only lied at least twice, but made certain that she had ALL of her ingredients even if her other team memmbers didn’t. I am disgusted to see just how much “reality” doesn’t exist in this show. I really feel sorry for the contestants who have been honorable to this point..including Jen, but who probably won’t be recognized as you obviously have your own agenda. Her dish may not have shown much, but you were shown a lot of Debbie’s true personality… and this is what you want to represent the Food Network???? Shame on you! You have no honor!
Remember boys and girls, that Melissa is still a housewife, with four babies…as far as Brett goes..in the kitchen, he was all pet names, but it was not because of affection or flirtiness or whatever…I think that’s his style. In the intro shey show him in his hotel kitchen doing the same thing to his staff. I think he choked on the presentation.
How can I get the recipe for the Apple Tarts? They looked delicious!
It seems suspicious that Debbie Lee, a professional caterer, would complete the shopping for her team, but returned with groceries so that each of the others lacked a key ingredient for their dish. How could a professional chef not buy the crucial items needed… unless she meant to sabotage her fellow contestants? I wonder?
I agree with the others that Debbie should have been let go because of her blatant dishonesty. I’m also disappointed that you are not posting their recipes on your website. One featured recipe is not enough. I’d like to see the recipe for the Apple Tarts – it got rave reviews, and looked delicious!
Debbie should go next because she is a liar. I don’t care how well she cooks. I did agree with the first one to go because i don’t know why a “housewife” with no experience would even be on the show in the first place.
The major flaw in all the cooking competition shows, this one included is too much emphasis on the Game Show mentality. Instead of everything being about racing the clock and working around some gimmick, just once, I would like to see the competition being about giving the competitors sufficient money and time to do the very best job they can…to let the results be about seeing them rise to the challange, not just to see who falls short. I want to see them being chosen by being the “best of the best”…not the “best of the least.” Tuning in to these types of shows is becoming frustrating because of it being such a carnival type of atmosphere. Smarten and freshen up guys….don’t remain dumb and stale.
I agree with many of the comments about Debbie. She was not a team player and her lying was very obvious. I also was surprised that she was not eliminated. Michael was subdued, I was all prepared to shiver in dislike but he was kind and considerate to others. I did not have the same reaction in watching him during the show as I did during the viewing of his bio. I really liked Jeffrey (he is the family man from California, right?); he really came across as likeable and adaptable. I remember thinking, wow, this guy is good. I was surprised at how well he came across on the camera. He seems like the winner.
Other comments: Lisa from last season certainly had cooking talent but I wouldn’t cook her style of food so probably wouldn’t have watched her show. I love Aaron’s show and have printed off some of his recipes. Thank you for honoring this man who comes across as a very nice person. Adam makes me smile and laugh, thank you for finding a spot for him. Lisa was already doing very fine for herself in Texas where I’m sure she is still doing very well. Her absence feels like sour grapes on her part. My husband and I both like Guy, Bobby, Paula, Alton, Rachael, Robert Ervine, and Giada (not necessarily in that order) We love Triple D and loved Feasting on Asphalt. When I get home from my job as an ER nurse, my husband will ask me what I want to watch even though he knows the answer; the Food Network or House Hunters on HGTV. He just hands me the remote and watches me flip to FN. Thanks for helping me relax after my busy day.
Deb lied, she sabotaged her team, she should have been booted, regardless how good the crab cakes were. I’m a 59 1/2 year old “househusband”, and I liked the green bean idea. I have no sympathy for not having some ingredient whining, or excusses…deal with it, improvise on the fly. That’s what I like most about Irvine, and Simon on Dinner Impossible. Give me store bought angelfood cake and I’ld do what Irvine did with it, make a “kick-ass” dessert you all would have loved…it would have WON the first round hands down. I do NOT have the personality to have a show and I, at least, know it. BTW, my wife married me for my cooking.
I love Guy Fieri, Rachael Ray & Paula Deen even if they are “loud & obnoxious” as previously posted. Other favorites are Giada De Laurentiis, Ina Garten & Sandra Lee — let’s face it I am addicted to Food Network! Keep up the excellent presentations.
The most part I love watch FNS. Agree with the comments about Deb- she needed to go & they should have kept Jen. I think Jen had more potential & integrity. I guess they had to keep the “bad girl” for interest.
One comment I would love for FN to take the same silly time crunches, limited ingredients, unknown team member skills and unpredicable scenarios and see them put together a winning dish in 30 minutes.. then have a former FNS contestants judge them. It’s easy to pull off a winning dish when someone else is buying & preping all your ingredients, turning your meat during commericals breaks and all your dishes and ideas are planned out.
Debbie is a liar. She made and executive decision the store to buy the angel food cake and said it was a group decision to go with the desert. She should of got canned as team leader. She lied about being under budget and din not card about the team – Jeffery was totally forgotten in the store (as she bought angle food cake) and he pulled it out! Can Debbie now! No charter.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Here is a question I would like to ask: Why the heck did you decide not to do the viewer voting last season, and are you going to ignore us again?
I feel that by skipping the viewer voting and voting yourself, you completely miss the point of the show in the first place – to find out who WE would want to see. I would have much preferred to see a show by Lisa or Adam Gertler(who I am glad got on your network anyways doing a travel show, thank you very much – I would have wanted an Internet cooking show! >_<) rather than “Big Daddy”, who, by the way, is the name of a terrifying robot in the Bioshock series which can tear you to bits in horrible ways.
Please don’t get me wrong for me spewing bile here, Bob, but the whole point of the show is to get the viewer’s opinions, and you cannot do that if you throw out the final vote at the end. Was Season 3 a bust and that’s why you gave up on us? I am sorry, but I cannot trust you anymore if that is the whole thing.
I will still stay loyal to your shows, but I cannot in my right mind watch Season 6 of your facade of a reality show if you do not treat us with respect and bring back the final viewer vote.
Intersting comments all the way around. Glad that so many people shared. I wanted to see the 1st episode of “NFNS” but even though it was on, I was not able to pay complete attention to it (family stuff going on). I will watch it in repeat performance over this next weekend. So,I shall save my comments until then. Am glad to see there are those who agree that although seemingly a very nice individual, Aaron McCargo is NOT a star in any way. Nice guy, but I wouldn’t watch his show for any authoritative, truly delicious and creative meals. And yes, I believe (insert your own reason why, I have mine) the FN had already planned on choosing him. Adam made lemonade out of lemons and got his own prime time show which really suits him. Go Adam. Lis Garza was at the top of her game from the moment she stepped foot in the carriage house. She should have won and I found her “exit inerview” truly gracious and inspiring considering the outcome. I enjoy watching Ina Garten’s French cooking themes and techniques, but she really is a elitist B. What hubby Jeffrey sees in her is way beyond me, although I have been told reason why guys stay with B women like her. Giada is “cute” but getting bored with her. Who cares that she had a baby. Paula Deen, do not get me started. She’s a silly, laugh-all-the-time, smile-til-her-face is-stretched-too-thin blue-haired shrill who is laughing all the way to the bank with the mega bucks she makes. Liked her in the beginning when she wasn’t such a commercial product; now, she is owned by corporate America
and is their puppet. RR, forget her. Can we say overexposed boys and girls? YUM-O! The Neeley’s. Jeez Louise. I like my ex-spouse better than them! Gag me. Anne Burrell, she’s okay, good show. 5 Ingredient Fix, fairly good, but somewhat forumalic. Bobby Flay, yes good looking, smart, funny, boyish, arrogant, cocky, great cook; if he wasn’t on FN, I’d never watch it. Tyler is too jumpy, sorta-kinda cute/good-looking, seems like he can’t stand still. Michael Chiarello is gorgeous. Cannot afford his gourmet lifestyle, but he is gorgeous. Cooking For Real, no thanks. Rescue Chef, I think not. FN has really got to sit down and think where they are gonna take this network in 2010 and beyoned. Bon Apetit!
Dear Bobby Flay, I love to cook and derive great satisfaction from seeing others eat and enjoy what I cook. Though I have a passion for cooking, professionally I serve the United States Army as a female Chaplain. I have served in Iraq in 2007-2008 where I also cooked for my Soldiers besides performing my main duties as a chaplain. I would like to know how I can participate in the ‘Next Food Network Star’?
I love foodnetwork even when I don’t agree about some ‘winners.’ It took me forever to forgive John Besh’s loss.
My favorite stars are Ina Garten and Tyler Florence. My favorite food is Ina’s and Paula’s (tie). Regarding the new star show, think Deb should have been eliminated. Nice work.
I love Aaron and his show. I agree that he made some serious errors on the Vegas buffet. However, both Lisa and Adam had messed up majorly several times and were given passes. I get that there are some people that hate Big Daddy’s House, Paula Deen and The Neeley’s. However, there are some of us that enjoy their shows. The FN is just like any other network, I don’t watche everything the network offers. I tune in for what I enjoy and don’t begrudge people the opportunity to watch what they like even if I don’t. I applaud FN for trying to offer diverse cooking shows for cooks of all economic and talent levels.
There are so many re-runs of shows – instead of doing re-runs, would it not be better if each show had more time so the people cooking would not sweat so much. It might also be more sanitary. I loose my appetite, just watching them sweat, get cut, and not use gloves, as well as have accidents. And some of the people chosen look like they need to be cleaned up before appearing on FOOD shows.
Love Food Network, but am not interested in reruns behind reruns of 30 Minute Meals. Instead of all the reruns why not show in a better time slot chefs like Nigella. I miss the Hearty Boys as well. Having them run so early on Sunday or Saturday morning is a disadvantage to the chefs. That’s when the reruns should go, not in prime time. Love Alton Brown and Giada and Ina, Tyler and others, but RR is WAY overexposed. When the Neely’s come on, I turn off, cannot stomach their “romance.”. Hope the next star will be put in a better time slot.
Looked like a lot of confused people running around as if it was their first ever meal. What was served for the first episode looked like slop other than for the cookie.I also noticed the ages of all of the finalists.Of all of the entries, you could not find some with a little more experience!!!Give me a break!!!
Debbie should have gone!!! It was her idea to serve ready made angel food cake for dessert!!!! And since it was such an “Embarressment”, why would you let her stay…….she was team leader and should have known better.
I am very much disappointed about keeping Debbie on the show. Debbie should have gone!!! It was her idea to serve ready made angel food cake for dessert!!! She is a Complete blunt liar.
Deb lied, she sabotaged her team, she should have been booted, regardless how good the crab cakes were. How can she be the Team captain and totally forgot what his Team (Jeffery) needed her to bring………Liar Liar……Debbie a Complete Liar.
This show is not FAIR and I am very much disappointment in the judges for letting go of this kind of behavior.
WOW! I find the comment referring to ‘housewife with no experience’ extremely offensive . . . i personally am a housewife. my family and friends tell me I’m an excellent cook! I would be willing to put some of my ‘housewife’ recipes against others that are prepared by a chef! They may be simple (like the Green beans were in NFNS), but we’ve gotten so complicated and busy these days, sometimes simple is better!
Just because we housewives don’t have the chef experiences that Susie, Bobby and Bob have (or Other FN Stars) doesn’t mean we can’t cook and prepare a flavorful meal enjoyed by all.
As far as NFNS is concerned, I’M totally pissed off. There is NO reason whatsoever, Debbie should’ve been saved. She Lied, she sabotaged, she was totally in the wrong . . . There is no reason why she shouldn’t have been let go. But more than that, she wasn’t given any thing she did right or did wrong. she was reprimanded by Bobby that if she was a team captain, then she needed to take responsibility for the team. Standing in that elimination room was NOT the time to do so. AT THE GROCERY STORE SHOPPING FOR HER TEAMMATES WAS THE TIME FOR THAT.
Boo!
Since Deb says she was a professional cater she should have been able to think on her feet. I could have come up with a chocolate fondu with some assorted dippers. The chocolate could have been made up and served in ramikins with fruit and cake on the side to dip in or on it’s own dessert plate. Also, if one has never been a chef cooking for over 100 people can seem like a daunting task for a home cook. I don’t know what these types of challenges do to be the next food network star. I know you want to see them handle pressure. Do you think Sandra Lee or Racheal Ray make it through something like to get their own show? Also it would be nice if you would put some of the cooking shows on at night. I work during the day and when I get home I would like to watch someone cooking something instead of making a cake that has to be 4 feet tall. what kind of garbage is that? That is something that should be put on at 1 am.
While I agree with the masses that Debbie should have been ousted in the first episode of the Next Food Network Star, my comment addresses another issue. I want to commend you on your return of Robert Irvine on Dinner Impossible. Micheal Symon is not worthy of his Iron Chef status and should never had been made a replacement for Robert Irvine since there is none. Also, when it comes to Iron Chef, it appears the only chef that people want to compete against is Bobby Flay. Nothing against Bobby but I miss seeing Mario in action. He’s on so rarely. And one cannot say enough about the mastery of Morimoto. HE should have his own show. I don’t know why you feel the need for an interpreter for him. He’s been a guest on other food network shows (like an episode of Emeril Live) where there was no such thing and everyone seemed to understand him just fine. I do think, however, that as in past episodes the Chairman should choose the Iron Chef the competitor goes up against. It would provide a more fair showcase of the other chefs talents. Perhaps even a “mystery chef” episode which included one of the past Iron Chef competitors/winners like John Besch. With regard to Adam Gertler, is the only reason he got a show of his own because you’d taken his idea for an interactive Q & A show and given it to Aida? If so that would explain alot. And is it my imagination or are you running out of ideas for shows thereby doubling up on formats such as Unwrapped and How did that get on my plate? Both shows seem to be similar in context as does the Neely’s when they’re on the road and the past episodes with the Deen Boys. Were the Neely’s enlisted to take over where the Deen boys left off? It also seems that there are a lot of shows where the hosts do nothing but eat; Roker on the road, Tasty Travels, Behind the scenes, Diners Drive-In’s and Dives, even Alton Brown has his own take on this venue. I have also noticed that every episode of Chopped features 3 male and 1 female competitor. What about switching it around a bit. Maybe 3 female vs. 1 male – or maybe even 2 vs. two. Even up the playing field a bit. And in conclusion I just have to ask – what is it with that woman on How to boil water? She does nothing but ask the most ridiculous questions and her butt never leaves the chair. If she ever got up I think I’d die of shock.
My Comment is that Debbie has no integrity if she had she would not have LIED to the judges. Any chef or sous chef and even cater’s knows how much it costs and to totally disregard the rest of the team. And if the judges look at the viewers voting they would have voted off Debbie and then Jen
Debbie is a sociopath. Why didn’t she get the boot? Who could trust her in the kitchen anyway..? That recipe for apple tarts has us all intriqued. This is the stuff that people want.
glad to see that i wasn’t the only one who thought debbie should have gone!
she blatantly sabotaged several of the cooks on her team by not making sure they had all the ingredients they needed to create their dish. eddie may have been able to pull himself up from the terrible “blasts” if he had been able to whip up the dessert he had in mind – remember – HE was to have made a dessert too, but debbie didn’t buy the ingredients for it, just made the command decision to buy angel food cake – and really nothing to go with it or plans for it. so jeffrey didn’t have his 1,2 or 3rd pick of key ingredients, no dessert for eddie and no mustard for katie. and that “not my problem” attitude she pulled when katie asked her where the mustard was really seemed to show debbie’s true personality. she also tried to pass the angel food cake fiasco off as a “group decision”.
she may have been allowed to remain to create some drama and stir up some contraversy, but i’m sure she’ll be on her way home soon!
In the first episode I think that Debbie should have been eliminated because of dishonesty. Not wanting to make herself look bad. In the second episode I was glad that Brett was eliminated due to throwing Melissa under the bus. There was no reason for him to say anything about helping her plate her dish. He should not have offered if he was going to do that.
I can't believe that I am the only one that feels that Mellisa is the one who should have gone and Bret should have stayed. What a whiny thing she was. If Bret had not helped her; she would have been going home with an incomplete dish. I was so shocked! What is wrong with you people? I'm not watching anymore.
When are you all going to get rid of Guy Fieri and Rachel Ray? They thow stuff around and are loud and annoying. I always turn the T.V. when they are on. You need to have Ina Garten, Sandra Lee and Ellie on primetime. They are real and grasp my attention. They represent all normal household cooks of America. They make me want to cook what they are cooking. Ina’s gourmet without fuss. Sandra’s on the table quick. Ellie’s healthy and tastey meals. Iron chef needs to go also. I don’t learn anything from that, and it is like a circus. I turn channel when that is on also.
It was a toss up between Brett and Eddie for this weeks vote off. While the “Earth Day” girl is a bit annoying and preachy with her health comments I do think there is a place for her still so glad she didn’t go. I didn’t like the way Brett offered to help than in the end threw it in her face not cool. Eddie was just annoying with his silly “love story” and what the heck woman eat the same way men do so dude keep the commentary simple and don’t try to impress with words you can’t pull it off. My favorite this week was Halloween.
I made a comment about Aaron and it is not on here. He should never have won the show last year. How are you a foodnetwork star and not know what a chipolte pepper is. And his competition was graceful enough to remind him to make his chicken parm. Please And then they let him stay the week he really bombed when he should have gotten the boot.
Robert Irvine doesn’t deserve to come back to “Dinner Impossible”. He’s a Liar (he “enhanced” his work resume), just like Debbie (not taking ownership of the dessert). It’s called personal responsibility and integrity and RI doesn’t have it. All Robert Irvine has is cockiness and an accent. Michael Symon has style, creativity, a sense of humour, goodwill toward his fellow man AND a coveted James Beard Award. Robert Irvine cannot say that. RI just has a fake resume. As far as Debbie and Jen go, would like to hope Jen tried her best, but that green bean dish left much to be desired. Sorry Jen. And Debbie reminds me of Rober Irvine, not much integrity just willing to cut down those around her to get what she wants. She probably should have been eliminated before Brett. I know for sure I wouldn’t watch any program with Debbie in it just like I wouldn’t watch an Aaron McCargo production. I don’t watch “Ask Aida” either, nor “Rescue Chef”. Jamie Oliver is very good though. Nigella is “fair” when she’s not being too much of a snob and man flirt. Foodnetwork has some serious issues concerning its future (2010 and beyond) progamming and culinary talent to balance between the professional chef and the regular home cook and keep its advertisers lined up at the door.
Also I thought I saw Debbie on a show with Bobby Flay a couple of weeks ago. I wonder if this comment will stay on the blog. My first one didn’t. I loved all of Foodnetwork until Aaron won. I do believe they already pick who they want not who is the best.
To Pratima Dharm,
It sounds like you have a lot to offer and would love to see a show with you starring. Time for something new!
I hope Debbie doesn’t win because the Food Network needs an Asian cook. She is unprofessional, and I will not tune it as I know this woman to be a liar and a fraud simply by viewing the first episode. She pretended the Angel’s Food Cake thing was a group effort, when she alone added during her shopping spree. She lied about the amount of money she spent, and then she pretended she purchased ingredients needed by other contestents. Viewers now know what she is all about… Complaining about other hosts: I like Big Daddy and I like the recipes on his show. His show is designed for novice to intermediate cooks. He has a lot of appeal. As for the Neely’s, well I really liked them for a while. I just got the Food Network back, but after a few weeks they are becoming hard to watch. When they have other people in the kitchen I find the entire show to be a waste of time. They already have a lot of banter back and forth, and adding one more person it like putting my brain in the blender. When they had the actors from that movie on, I stopped watching, I haven’t been able to turn them back on.
I am sure you are getting tired of hearing this but Debbie should really have been eliminated last week. Do you really want someone who tries to deceive and weasels out of responsibility to represent Food Network? It was also kind of insulting that she lied to you and the other judges after the entire viewing audience watched what really happened and knew she had misrepresented the facts as soon as the words left her mouth. Character matters and if she becomes the next Food Network Star there will be a lot of people that will NOT watch her show.
On a better note, I love FN and now that I am retired I watch it all the time. I love almost all the shows but Ina, Alton and Bobby Flay are my favorites. I probably use Ina’s recipes the most because they are so doable, delicious and elegant that I feel like a master chef. Thanks for all the hours of enjoyment and instruction you provide, I really enjoy it.
Debbie Lee needs to go… she should have owned up to that dreadful “fake” angel food cake dessert and for being a complete idiot at managing the costs. I do not want her to be the “bad guy; I just want her gone. As long as she is there, someone else must go. If the chefs, like Giada, keep saying how they LOVE Debbie’s personality, I will stop watching this show.
Melissa is a good chef – home cook or not, the woman has really good sense and some awesome recipes. Jamika is really good. I love Michael, but FN will NEVER give him a show.
Re: past shows – Still think it is unfair that Adam even has a show when he did not win and doesn’t even cook. I would much rather watch Lisa Garza than him; at least I would learn something useful.
I am quite upset at your attitude towards hispanics in your star show. You appear to use our inventive hot and savory dishes. You exploit them. You eat them left and right, but surprise, surprise not a hint of single hispanic representative in your station. I am thinking of dropping it! I hope all other hispanics boycott your -channel. Do you realize how many hispanics watch your channel? I will make sure this is pointed out loud and clear, unless your remedy this attitude and place and decent representation of our contributions with real hispanic-americans. I surely hope you face this comment and post it.
I have to ask myself which contestant would i turn the food channel on to watch, WELL!!!!, NONE Of Them…. As time passes i see things getting worse all the time.,, As far as big daddy. I dont watch him either.I guess Mr Brown is my favorite , cause i always learn something i didnt know, and he presents everything nicely and a bit funny… I dont see any big Stars this year… I enjoy Adam Gertler.. That gent could do most anything and draw attention. Glad to see him around…
Look, there’s no such thing as nice here. Everyone one of these people would grind their heel in the other’s face in order to win, including lie, cheat, and manipulate. And I know all reality shows are very carefully edited to manipulate viewers and sell a particular point of view. Given that Debbie is still there it’s pretty clear that for whatever reason FN wants to keep her and is willing to gloss over her issues. So they’re going to have to work hard to “sell” her to the viewers because while the judges may ultimately choose her, if the viewers don’t like her, it’s not much of a benefit for FN. It’s will be interesting to see what editing lengths that FN will go to over the coming weeks to “save debbie” in the face what appears to be pretty near univesal disapproval. Maybe she can rescue a child from a burning building and then give him some of that store-bought pudding….
I have read the comments above and COMPLETELY agree with the comments on Debbie. She jumped up to be team captain then disregarded the other contestants recipe requests. She lied about the angel food cake and said it was a group decision. She could have cost the other contestant a chance. She came out with an accusation immediately on the 2nd show, accusing Teddy of attacking Melissa, which he did not. I wasn’t a big fan of Teddy but Debbie is manipulative, pretends to be sweet and kind and would do whatever it takes to make the others look bad. I can’t believe the FN judges think she has a “sweet personality” and that she “didn’t really slight the others on purpose” during the first episode. Get real. She is devious and I guess the drama of having her continue is what FN is looking for during this season. I am disappointed that the judges are so tolerant of her blantant lies and deceit. She has absolutely NO integrity and to stand there and immediately accuse Teddy of that was nasty. She wanted to set that thought in everyone’s mind and I guess since the judges didn’t say anything to her, they must think it’s ok for someone to act that way. I love FN and enjoy most of the hosts. I agree with some of the other comments however, regarding the Neelys. Her supposed “spice fairy” cuteness is nausiating and the show would be much better without her. We get it….. the Neelys love each other……. now knock it off and get on with the cooking. GET RID OF DEBBIE……. I guess we will see how much the judges listen to the viewers comments and take them into consideration with her antics and lies. She is not a nice person.
IS MELISSA ANY RELATION TO SISSY BIGGERS? SHE LOOKS ALMOST EXACTLY LIKE HER…I HAVE A FEELING THAT MAY BE ONE OF THE REASONS SHE WAS SELECTED FOR THE SHOW ???
